Our much-needed break had come to an end. Today marks the beginning of the Vytal Tournament, an event that has been eagerly awaited for weeks. However, before my dad arrives to pick me up, I find myself needing to speak with my mother, who passed away when I was just four years old.

Ruby: "Hey mom. Sorry I haven't come by in a while, things have been... We'll things have been pretty busy, actually. Oh! Dad's here as well, and he's... We'll dad, he still teaches at Signal, but he did tell me he's going on a mission soon, he does miss adventuring with you."

Ruby: "I miss you too. Haven't gotten kicked out of Beacon yet, so that's cool. I think being on a team with Yang helps I keep her in line, that was a joke. She's a really great fighter, you can see she's learned a lot from dad. So are Dylan, Weiss and Blake. Oh! Together we make team RWBY! The very first 5-man team! But yes, that does cause for quite some confusion, anyway I made a bunch of new friends and some odd teachers. Oh! We also stopped some bad guys as well. I guess it's like they say like mother like daughter."
I found it difficult to fully articulate the breadth of our experiences at Beacon since we began.
Ruby: "There's also Dylan that I mentioned before. Even if Dylan's not named in our team, he's a great guy, always jumps in like how you used to when someone's in danger. He's also incredibly strong and really kind, also a bit cocky, but he's working on improving that. He's also pretty cute... But he's dating Weiss, which makes it a bit awkward when I think of him that way, but I can't keep myself off doing so."
Ruby: "I do still wonder why Ozpin let me enter the school early, meh, he will probably tell me one day. It's kinda funny, the more I'm learning about him, the more he's starting to sound like uncle Crow."
Zwei's bark drew my attention, prompting me to turn and notice my dad waiting for me as well.
Ruby: "Oh, looks like dad's back! He's dropping me off at Beacon for the tournament match before he goes on his next mission, Wish me luck!"
