Chapter Forty One

 "SO, that's your special someone? Hindi kayo bagay." Nagtatakhang napatingin ako kay Mr. Cross nang lumabas ito mula sa opisina niya at tumambay sa desk ko para lang sabihin 'yun sa'kin. There was a smug look on his face and he looked really pissed off as he tell me those words. "I know that man and to be honest, I didn't expect that he's your boyfriend."

"Is that all, sir? You still have a board meeting at ten AM." I said and smiled. Tumingin naman ito sa'kin at hindi pa din maipinta ang nakasimangot niyang mukha.

"Saan mo naman nakilala 'yun?"

"Mr. Cross, nasa conference room na po ang mga ka-meeting niyo. This is not the time to ask me those questions."

Ngumiti naman ito nang makahulugan. "I just don't like him, Adina." Sagot niya at bago pa ko makapagsalita ay umalis na ito sa harapan ko. I sighed and shook my head before I followed him in the conference room.

Tatlong araw pa lang ako sa CrossCom at masasabi ko naman na kahit papaano ay nakakapag-adjust na ako sa trabaho ko bilang secretary ni Seamus Cross. Kahapon ay sinabihan ako ni Mrs. Aragon na aralin ang history ng kompanya pero hanggang ngayon ay wala pa din akong nauumpisahan basahin doon sa file na binigay nito sa'kin. Kapag uwi ko kasi sa penthouse ay nakakatulog na ko dahil sa pagod.

Napansin ko din mula nang kumain kami ng lunch ni Mr. Cross ay mas naging malapit ito sa'kin. Ayos lang naman 'yun dahil wala naman akong napapansin na mali sa ginagawa niyang pakikipagusap sa'kin kaya lang nga ay hindi iyon nagugustuhan ni Sandro. Tuwing gabi kasi at sinusundo niya ako ay palaging sumasabay si Mr. Cross sa'kin para antayin si Sandro. And they literally give the negative aura whenever they see each other.

"I would like to arrange a meeting with the Elinzano's, preferably this month for their new hotel. I can discuss the hotel's internet and communication they need and I want to take this opportunity to be their business partner as well." Seamus said, making me look at him. "I know that Elinzano International is a big company, that's why being their partner will gain us something."

Hindi ko naman napigilan na magtaas ng kamay kaya lahat sila ay napatingin sa'kin. Seamus' forehead wrinkled as he turns his swivel chair to face me. "Ahm, I'm sorry but don't you think Montenegro Corporation is way better to be the CrossCom's business partner? As we all know, they give the best accommodations in this country and people is choosing them than Elinzano Hotel."

"Miss secretary, why are you interfering with our meeting? You do know your place in this company, right?" sabat ng isang board member na kinayuko ko.

"I'm sorry, ma'am." Sagot ko. Hindi ko kasi alam kung bakit biglang nag-react ang katawan ko nang marinig ang Elinzano International. If Seamus will gain their trust and be their business partner, then I will see more of Magnus, right? Iyon kasi ang iniiwasan ko; ang magkita kaming muli ng taong 'yun. There are still a lot of incomplete puzzle in my life and I want to take this things slowly as possible. Matalino si Magnus at gusto kong manalo kung sakali man na magkakaharap kaming muli. What he did to my family was unforgivable.

Matapos ang meeting ay tahimik lang ako hanggang sa makapasok kami ni Mr. Cross sa opisina niya. He told me to come with him and I think he'll scold me for what I did earlier. Pinagmasdan ko naman ito na tanggalin ang coat niya at naupo sa swivel chair niya saka ako tinignan. His blue eyes were void of any emotion and so is his face that's why I'm getting a little bit nervous.

"Do you think my decision of being Elinzano's business partner is wrong?" he asked and leaned on his seat. "And gaining the partnership with Montenegros is the right thing to do? Why, Adina? Is it because your boyfriend is a Montenegro?"

"I'm sorry Mr. Cross but that is not my point."

"Explain it then."

"Montenegro Corporation is reigning in this kind of business for almost a hundred years and I think being in partnership with them will gain you a lot than the Elinzano. Sabihin na natin na kaya ko sinasabi 'to ay dahil kilala ko ang mga Montenegro. You should at least think about that Mr. Cross."
