Zero Redemption 2

Gertrude lay in the hospital ICU. But it was too late. She was no longer with them. The head doctor shook his head and turned the machine off. He called the time of death at 10:40 in the morning. There was a minute of silence in respect before covering the body and wheeling it away. The head doctor left his team in charge while he went to speak to the family about the tragic and unfortunate loss.

It wasn't even an hour before Gertrude woke up in Hell. Dark clouds stretched forever as a chilly breeze snapped her back to reality. So, this was what the other side looked like. She looked at herself in a broken shop window. The large horns and wings were impressive, along with her new height. She also had a long, heavy tail that looked like it could double as a whip and a club. Fascinating. But the self-admiration didn't last long. Gertrude heard shouts and curses drawing near. She quickly hid and waited it out.

When it seemed safe, Gertrude made a break for it. Feeling hungry, she looked for food. As she searched, bits of her time alive came and went. She remembered school, hitting up the mall, and her artwork. While lost in thought, something landed under her foot. It was an old wallet. Gertrude wasn't a thief. But she knew she needed money to get food, even if it was just a burger and a bottle of water. Thankfully, the wallet was decently full. So, she looked around and tucked it into her pocket. Eventually, she came across a street vendor and bought what she could.

Gertrude looked for a place to crash and found an old building. It was a mess. But at least the roof was sturdy, and there seemed to be power and running water. Somehow. She cleaned a room and finally sat down to rest. This was her new life, at least for now. Aside from the one little stealing incident, she felt alright with herself. Gertrude could already tell that her afterlife wasn't going to be easy. But this could be her chance to make up for living such a bad life.
