A month had passed. Cynthia was desperately looking for something, anything, to do for money. But every place had turned her away. Something about her just made them uneasy and so uncomfortable. Eventually, she came across a small art studio and walked in. The owner welcomed her. He was a good-looking reptile demon. With zero confidence after so many failures, Cynthia asked for employment. The owner studied her for a minute. While talking, his apprentice emerged from the backroom after organizing her paint sets. Cynthia couldn't help but state. The apprentice introduced herself as Gertrude and welcomed her before returning to work. The owner declined her request a moment later. Something about her made him suspicious. He could tell that she would bring down the value of his store and made her leave. Cynthia left with her head down. She didn't know what was wrong with her.

Meanwhile, Gertrude was busy. She wasn't going to ruin this opportunity. The owner had taken a chance on her after seeing her in action. Thankfully, she didn't have to start from the bottom since she already had plenty of artistic experience. Right now, she was mid-tier but already aiming high. For that, she couldn't afford any distractions. Expect maybe a boyfriend. But that was the last thing on her mind. Right now, she wanted to improve her skills and save up for a real house. Gertrude kept working while her boss attended to his own requests from clients. It was going to be a long road. But Gertrude was running at full speed and even flying.
