Verosika jumped off stage after the curtains closed. The last show of the day was finally over. Exhausted, she went to her dressing room and collapsed on the sofa. Being a pop idol was hard. But it was equally very rewarding. She rolled over onto her back and stared at the ceiling. A few minutes later, one of her guards knocked and brought her refreshments. While at it, he also informed her that two guests were waiting to see her. Verosika already knew who one of them was and rolled her eyes. Without a doubt, it was her ex. She and Blitzo had had a falling out years ago. He wanted to focus on his startup assassination company. While he did love her, their relationship took a backseat to his ambitions. She had been patient and waited for him to have some success and become stable. But being part of the lowest class in Hell was difficult. Work wasn't easy to find. In the end, it just hadn't worked out for them.
Verosika told her guard to let the two in as she ate a sandwich and washed it down with soda. As expected, Blitzo was one of her visitors. The second was Striker. He had been coming to her shows recently. As a fellow musician, he knew good music when he heard it. And he was interested in her after a few weeks of tuning in. And like Blitzo, he was also in the market for murder. Only he had become a bounty hunter instead. But the real kicker was that he had also been involved with Verosika.
The two walked in to see Verosika sitting with her arms and legs crossed. She raised an eyebrow, waiting for them to state their case. Then, at the same time, both of them asked to start dating again. Verosika didn't know what she was expecting. But it wasn't that. The room fell silent. Blitzo and Striker turned to one another and stared. Things got a bit heated as they argued. Verosika waited until they shut up. Then she stood. As much as she had enjoyed her time dating Striker, part of her missed Blitzo. So, she turned her ex-cowboy/bounty hunter down. It was hard. But Striker could see that she was serious. So he gracefully accepted her decision. However, he still offered to kill anyone in her way. It was his way of being sweet. Verosika accepted his deal. With that, he took his leave. Blitzo stared after him in confusion. He had stopped listening when Verosika had chosen to take him back. But not so fast. She was still getting over her bounty hunter. So, for now, Blitzo took his leave. He left Verosika with his new number and address for whenever she was comfortable with dating again.
It was about a week before Blitzo got a call. Verosika asked to meet up at a café they used to frequently visit. He immediately left the office to pick her up. First, they talked about Striker to clear up any misunderstandings. Then they agreed to start slow. As outgoing and extravagant as Verosika was, another part of her was reserved and unsure of herself. Right now, the ladder half was running the show. While she had moved on from Striker, she wasn't ready to start again. But she was making progress. Blitzo understood. He could wait. Demons lived a long time, after all. Verosika was still figuring herself out and sorting the mess in her head and heart. But she promised to give him her final answer at the end of the month. And she did.
