It was a slow day at the hotel. Half the staff was lazing around with barely anything to do. Carlos and Vincent were in the main office talking about getting a time slot on 666 News next week. The only issue was Kevin Killjoy. Tamara Trench wasn't a problem. Dani was on his phone ordering cleaning supplies. And also looking for more people to help with housekeeping. Three wasn't enough anymore. Angela Dust and the kitchen staff were testing out new recipes. As for Shelly, she was keeping herself busy by trying out some new cheap magic tricks and mixing various bottles of alcohol. It was very productive. Besides, nobody was hanging out at the bar. And nobody was paying attention either. So after shuffling her favorite deck of cards, she happily tossed them around and made them vanish. It wasn't every day that she got time to herself like this. So, she was very focused.
A week later, it was a patient's birthday. Dani and his staff ensured the lobby was sparkling clean while Angela and her chefs took care of the menu. Shelly didn't like loud parties and crowds. But parties meant drinking. And she never turned down an opportunity to slam a bottle down. So, she decided to put on a little show. After all, a little socializing couldn't hurt. So, she informed Carlos, and half an hour was set aside for a few tricks.
The party kicked off with Angela leading everyone in singing. And damn if she knew how to carry a tune. As everyone ate cake, Shelly got set up. And she was pretty good. She hadn't been seriously practicing her craft since falling into Hell. But she still had it. And she had more than just card tricks up her sleeves. But a good magician never reveals their secrets. Shelly got a round of applause after her grand finale (which was only a little dangerous). She grinned and bowed. Maybe she could work her magic acts into a side gig. It'd certainly add entertainment value to the hotel. It honestly wasn't a bad idea.
