Indy and Shorty waited in the plane. Shorty kept checking his watch. "When is Emily coming? We're going to have to leave without her."
"You're not leaving without her, Shorty," Indy replied. "The last time I left without her, she put herself on a plane to China to get a spy boy named Jake Manifold home and grabbed the Sidenstrasse Tapestry on the way. I'm fortunate she liked the artifact better than the idiot boy."
"The artifact which you burned...?" Shorty stared at Indy.
"Yeah. We didn't know it was instructions."
"Would you have read the instructions?"
"Probably not," Indy admitted. "But the point is: She went to China without me. She snuck into a closed and hostile Communist country, on a spy mission from my old boss -"
"Just... like... what... we're... doing...?"
