Annie held the patient horse to her face, watching her parents, terror still in her eyes. Farouk studied her carefully.
"My family would not be so worried," he announced.
"Why not? She's my sister!" Annie cried answering in Egyptian Arabic.
"She is a girl." He looked at Indy. "But your father is different. He lets his wife do dangerous things."
"Mom wouldn't sit still - you saw how she is."
"I saw." Farouk smiled. "And I think it is better this way. I have never met a family who mother and father work together - as equals."
Annie paused. "Sometimes people complain that Dad isn't controlling enough."
"What is control when you have love like they do?" Farouk asked. "Are you going to be like them?"
"I... I don't know," Annie answered, clutching the horse tighter.
