The apkallu pivoted its head, along with the others toward Emily and Shorty.

"The child who rescued you from our temple...?" The lead apkallu whispered in wonderment. It turned to another. "I thought you killed him with the others!"

"We couldn't!" The second monster answered.

"Why not?!!!!" The leader roared.

"We just... couldn't... if he can rescue our prisoner as a child - what are we going to do with him as an adult?"

"Why kill me?" Indy asked. "You said I brought you and your kind back. You wanted to be worshipped - and this is your modern temple."

"Its not enough, Dr. Jones. It is never enough!"

"Hitler said the same. So did Atilla the Hun and Alexander the Great." Indy stood his ground, trying to think of ways to escape, even though he physically knew exactly where he was. Except... this realm was... different... so horrendously different from everything he'd known. He couldn't shut his eyes like he had with the Ark of the Covenant. This fear of the supernatural he had to face.

The apkallu smiled. "We wanted you in 1935 when you were in the Temple of Doom - but the child saved you. We are glad to see you in our realm again, Dr. Jones. You have grown more powerful... and more vulnerable."

An image of Marion, with Emily's older sister Annie flickered before him. Marion was helping their grandchildren onto a horse. Indy's granddaughter, Laurel, scrambled into the saddle, as her brother Tyler sat behind her. Annie held the horse steady as Marion gave a few last minute instructions to the grandchildren on how to hold the reins.

The image was shut off.

"You see, Dr. Jones - more vulnerable than ever. Yet because you have been around all these supernatural artifacts, you've gained power. You are our chosen one to let us free."

"I don't want you free," Indy growled. "No one who knows what you are wants you free. You have to lie your way into people's hearts and minds. You had to drug me. You stole my free will. And then - you had to drug me again for this little chat."

"Oh. But we do have power over you, Dr. Jones. Your daughter, Emily is lovely. And she's just the right age for a sacrifice... one similar to the Temple of Doom, that will open Diya."

"You touch my daughters, my grandchildren or my wife - I'll kill you!"

"With what?" The apkallu murmured in a blandly patronizing tone, while the others surrounding it, laughed. "You can't even move unless we allow you to. And the only weapon that could possibly threaten us, is the seventh sword of Diya. No one has ever found it. No one has a chance to find it - except someone like you."
