The apkallu rose up and studied him. Indy glared back.

"You are not afraid of me?" It seethed in fury.

"Hell no, apkallu. I've seen human evil. You're just a disembodied, disempowered, imprisoned bastard spirit. Let my son go."

"The short one? Crying? Stunned? At the edge of this pit? He is not your son."

Indy's eyes blazed like the furious light from the Ark of the Covenant. "Shorty!" He called out. "Shorty! I love you, son! You need to help Em!"
