Rolling head over heels, Indiana Jones scrambled to his feet, sword in one hand, swiping his hat from Seal Child's head.

"What are we facing here, Ross?"

Ross pointed. "They landed over there. I can't contact base - so I'm gonna guess the Japanese landed there too."

Indy squinted against the sunlight. He could see Japanese infantry, climbing the hills, bayonet's fixed on their rifles.

A bullet whizzed by both their heads.

Ross covered Seal Child and ducked, taking cover in the tall grass.

Indy reached for his gun, firing back.

"Ross, got the sword?" Indy asked.

"Yeah. But what am I gonna do with it?" Ross stared at Indy.

"Make sure they don't get it," Indy eyed the area. The Japanese were closing in. The jeep wasn't far, but they needed to get their first. "Ross, take Seal Child and the sword while I lay down some cover fire."

"Uncle Indy!"

"Stay with Ross! Keep your head down!"

Indy rolled away into the cover of the barrow mound, climbing behind some of the stonework. A mortar round thumped against the side of the ancient ruin, blowing out part of the mound.

Indy fired, aiming carefully with each shot as the enemy infantry crested the hill. In the center of the charge were a few men in dark silks with red dragons stitched on their tunic sleeves. "Uh-oh. They brought the servants of the knowing ones," Indy muttered. "They're supposed to be legend too." He glanced back at the mound. "If you are responsible for my bad day - I'll see you in hell and we're gonna have a long chat. You'll probably have to answer to my wife too. You don't want Marion mad at you. No one wants Marion mad."

"Indy!" Ross yelled.

Indy bolted around the side of the ruin, vaulted the stonework and scrambled into the jeep. "Let me drive! You shoot!"

Ross pulled the machine gun from the back of the jeep. "Never thought..."

"You'll never think again unless you start shooting!" Indy yelled, shifting the jeep and throwing mud.

The jeep jerked, spun and Ross laid down a line of fire.

"Aim for the ones in black!" Indy ordered.

"Uncle Indy?"

"Stay down, Seal Child!"

"I know how to reload," Seal Child whispered.

Indy tossed his pistol aside. "Ammo's in my bag. Keep your head down!"
