Ninjas swarmed the scene, stepping out of darkness like the apkallu. They grabbed Indy and Shorty, quickly tying them to the sacrifice stone next to Lizavet.
Emily wrenched out of their grasp, brass knuckles, and cigarette lighter fists swinging, until the elbow of her left hook punch slammed into Chiba.
Emily turned, off balance and fell rump first onto the ground.
Chiba grinned.
Emily froze.
Indy knew what she was haunted by. "EM!" He struggled against the ropes. "Emily! He's not Chang! Take him down! Don't be afraid! You've done this before!"
Emily scrambled to her feet, shaking off the memories from Sidenstrasse and squaring her shoulders... brass knuckles on one hand and a cigarette lighter in her other fist.
