Edo and his ninja henchmen were standing along the fractured edges, throwing shots of rice wine into the obsidian cracks. The heat made the liquid turn to steam and blasted open the thin rock with bone crunching and cracking.
Shorty twitched and shuddered at the noise.
Indy glanced over his shoulder. "What's going on, son?"
"I..." he flinched. "...know!" He flinched again, pulling away from the noise.
"That...!"
There was more cracking.
The lava dome's entire ceiling collapsed.
"...Noise!"
In the sudden light, Indy could see Shorty's face. He had tears rolling across his cheeks and his jaws were clenched. "That's the noise the apkallu made when they ate my crew alive!"
