Vaughn slowly bit his lip as he walked up the pathway towards the front of his house. The house that seemed so empty- the house that he knew that he should have sold ages ago. But couldn't.

It was like every time that he thought about it; his heart would shatter and feel like it was being pulled from his body. That it made him reconsider trying to sell it. Besides this was the house that they built together.

This was the house that was the representation of their love and marriage. Vaughn thought that as long as one of them owned this place. That the other would always have a place to call home.

Vaughn knew that he was holding onto something that didn't mean anything to Athiss anymore. Hell the man had left him high and dry.

It wasn't as if Vaughn blamed him. He would have left if he was in Athiss place as well. Because back then Vaughn was so stupid- so immature. That he didn't deserve to have love- to have Athiss.

Athiss was always his sun to the rain. His light in the darkness, His heart will always be with that man. No matter if they ever got back together or not. Vaughn knew that his heart was with the man that he let slip through his fingers three years ago.

These last three years without Athiss- his Athiss made him feel as if he was just barely surviving, just going through the notions. But not really living- not really feeling. He knew that he seemed like a shell of the person that he used to be but he couldn't help it. He couldn't just put the past behind him. Not when it was his fault. Everything was his fault and he knew that.

Vaughn knew that he should have done something- anything to change the outcome. But what was he to do? How was he to tell the man that he loved- and lost that he was sorry?

Without it sounding fake- rehearsed. Vaughn was so scared to reach out that he just let time tick away. He knew that all he had to do was take a stand. But how could he, when he knew that Athiss would turn him away, and tell him to leave him the hell alone.

It's not like Vaughn blamed the man. He was less than worthy. If He ever saw Athiss again he would show him just how much he meant to him.

Slowly taking deep breath Vaughn placed his hand on the door knob and pushed the door open and stepped in. So much in the last three years have changed. That he wondered if Athiss would recognize him if he saw him today.
