Vaughn watched with apprehension as Athiss pulled away. He knew that they had just talked but watching him leave with no idea if they were going to the same place broke his heart more than he realized it would.

Slowly exhaling Vaughn eyed the children and couldn't help but believe that everything would be alright. It wasn't because the parentage of the children was up in the air. It was because looking at them made him realize and see that even when things seem bleak there was a light on the other side if you believe.

Slowly swiping his tongue along his lips Vaughn started contemplating what he should do. He wondered if he should just get in and take a chance, or just head back up to the room. Just when he was about to make a choice he felt a soft tap on his shoulder.

Gulping hard he swiftly turned around as he eyed the man standing in front of him.

As he spoke a soft and gentle "Hello-", the man standing in front of him interrupted his words before he could finish his thoughts.

Before he could ask the man what he wanted he spoke: "Sir, I was instructed to take you to the Ceryian estate. However, if you wish to stay here I can phone ahead and tell them that as well."

Shaking his head swiftly as his hair flew into his eyes, Vaughn slowly cleared his throat to make sure that his voice wasn't squeaky and horse. Once he was sure that his voice would be okay he spoke loud enough for the man to hear. "No! I wish to go. It's just-."

Before he could say another word, the man was speaking again. "You are worried that you won't see master Athiss again?" He watched as the man in front of him fidgeted anxiously before continuing: "If you don't mind me saying sir, I don't believe you have to worry about any of that to be honest. Besides I'm sure by now he's waiting for us. He's an impatient man when it's something that he cares about. Like you and those kids."

Vaughn didn't want to tell the man that Athiss didn't care about him or the kids.

The only thing that he wanted to say was that the only reason Athiss was doing this was because he felt bad about them staying in the hotel. Especially, when there was plenty of space at the Ceryian estate.

However, it didn't seem like he needed to tell the man in front of him anything.

Because seconds later he heard: "Think what you want Mr. Kalil, but a bit of advice, it's dangerous thinking like that around Athiss' elders. They will be able to see everything you don't say on your face especially if I did. Not to mention Mr. Kalil, out of all the people in the world why is it that he's inviting someone he doesn't care about back to the estate? Someone who doesn't even have his life on straight?"

Opening his mouth to reply Vaughn instead just nodded slowly as he whispered: "Take me wherever you were ordered to", before slowly climbing into the back of the car.

As he did he watched the children with wide eyes as the car started to move. He knew that he had lots of questions for not only Athiss, his grandfather, and his father but himself as well.

It felt like he hadn't even been away from the place long enough for his children to fall asleep.

Slowly leaning his head back as his head started to pound he wondered when all of this would be over. It always felt like he had a headache even when he didn't. Honestly, all that he wanted was for the games to be over.
