Authors Note:

Hello Jitterbugs its been a while since I've graced your screens and whatnot. Sorry about that. I know that this is not as long as normal, however, I am still getting back into the swing of things. I promised two chapters a month, however, this month kind of took me by storm and with the reading and figuring everything out I may have to do it once a month just to make sure I do not get too overwhelmed. Anyway, I hope that you all enjoy the comeback of Athiss and Vaughn and I promise the next one will be better.

Thanks Jitterbugs for always rooting me on.

Sending positive vibes to you all always.

As Vaughn took a deep, shaky breath, his face contorted in anguish upon hearing the dismissive remark, "You don't understand anything." The alley fell silent as tension hung in the air. It's not about him being gay, but before she could finish her sentence, there was a sudden, loud bang against the wall. Vaughn's eyes darted up in response, his body trembling with a mix of fear and confusion, as he wondered why he was even there.Vaughn blinked as he gazed at Ezekiel. He watched as the man pursed his lips before speaking, " Hello, Vaughn" with a soft breath. Vaughn glanced over at the madwoman with the gun pointed at him as there was a squeak. Seconds passed before he heard, "What are you doing here Zeke...I'm-" In the middle of her speech Ezekiel cracked out, " You are trying to harm my family Lia, and though I am with just as much fault as you I cannot allow it. You will die Lia, and that is something that I cannot stop if it gets to where my family starts acting. Especially when it comes to protecting my cousin, my grandfather will stop at nothing.

It was her smirking face that caught his attention when she said, "I only want his death. Why did you think I shot him?" His mother hired me, but I would have done it, anyway. That was the motivation I needed Zeke. I found it humorous that even his own mother didn't want him. Although she would have loved to see him die, I couldn't even do that for her.

"Do you even know why, though?"

Even though Vaughn could hear movement, he hesitated to announce his presence. Ezekiel stared at Layla and cried: Because you're warped, you think you love him, but you're just fond of the idea of him. Although I love him, I would not hurt him like that. Your actions, which involved engaging with my cousin's husband and assuming he would react angrily, indicate a clear lack of understanding on your part.

Due to his nature, it's impossible for him to fight for someone who wants another person. Don't misunderstand me; I think my cousin is selfish, but he's aware of this. So why do you think he and Vaughn are having problems? My cousin's blood boils when he sees someone touching something that's his. It boils so much that he's now expressing his feelings to someone else.

Despite being known for his gentle demeanor, it is crucial to recognize that my cousin is actually of Ceryian descent, a fact that fills Claude with immense pride and joy.

It is clear that you lack any understanding of my cousin, as well as the fact that you are the cause of his injury and the anger he hides behind his mask. Layla, it's important for you to exercise caution when he directs his attention towards you, as our grandfather will be unable to provide assistance once he gains control over you, given his extensive knowledge on the matter.

I am indifferent to whatever he does to me because his husband happens to be the father of my kids.

As his heart raced and his voice quivered, Vaughn's curiosity got the better of him, and he nervously asked, "I'm genuinely curious. What's the story behind your obsession with me and my husband?"

His jaw clenched as Layla's suspicious gaze intensified, and then she erupted in mocking laughter, fueling his anger. It's not that I'm obsessed, I simply have a deep longing to see him endure the consequences of his actions. You see, back when I was just a lowly nurse, he chose to ignore me, and I won't allow myself to be disregarded by anyone. Fueled by rage, I set out to find you, fully aware that you were the person he treasured most,Vaughn's fists clenched with seething fury. How could someone do this to other people? He knew that he had played right into her hands and games. However, that seemed to backfire because he did not care and was able to walk away from you easily. He blinked as she leaned closer to him with the gun digging into his chin she sneered "Should we show him who you belong, to Mr. Kalil?"

He was filled with a sense of despair as her scornful smile echoed in his ears, her whispered question teasingly asking, "Do you think we should let him see?"

Do you think he will be happy with the results of your actions and the countless times you've made me feel loved? As Vaughn listens, he hears the desperation in her trembling voice. My dearest Kalil, you are the one who fills my heart with warmth and joy. Our bond is unbreakable, and no one can ever take you away from me. Being the father of our children, you always prioritize their safety above anything else and would never do anything to cause them harm, no matter what the consequences.

His eyes widen with a hint of moisture, reflecting the profound sadness that washes over him upon hearing her words. In a sudden, unexpected move, her lips forcefully collided with his, causing a shiver to run down his spine and leaving him anxious about how Athiss would react to this bold gesture. Consumed by anger, his resolve crumbling, he stares at her with fury, forcefully slamming his hands against her chest, pushing her away, his demeanor seething with rage.

As he observed her, a mischievous smirk started to appear on her face, and her laughter filled the air with its echoing sound. He glanced at her, his heart pounding, as she let out a low, threatening growl. His body tensed, fearing her unpredictable next move. Gnawing on his lip, he snarled back at Laylia, his voice filled with anger. "This is not a joke, Laylia. It's deeply troubling to witness how you manipulate and control the lives of others. Your fixation on someone's sexuality, especially when they are openly gay and have never shown any interest in women, is both baffling and disturbing. It's difficult to comprehend why you feel wronged by someone who has never even crossed paths with you romantically. Your actions not only display a lack of empathy, but also reveal a concerning obsession that is both unhealthy and sickening. People's lives should never be a game for you to play with, and it's important for you to reflect on the harm you are causing and seek to change your behavior.

The word "why" slips through gritted teeth. My face flushes with rage, fists clenched tightly, ready to confront the injustice that fuels my anger. How delightful it must be for you to always have things done exactly as you desire, with no consideration for alternative viewpoints or compromises. Things just don't work that way. A surge of frustration coursing through me, my fists clenching tightly in response to this unfairness. It sends shivers down my spine as I slowly begin to grasp the true magnitude of it all. However, you never will. You won't sacrifice anything, not even for the kids, who rely on you for their well-being. I know I am wrong, but I'd sacrifice anything for them. Even if it means letting go of Athiss because not having kids with me hurts him the most. While I love those kids and would never want any harm to come to them, I must admit that having them with you is a mistake. However, it is important to understand that my feelings towards you and my willingness to deal with you are separate from my love for the children.

When faced with the dismissive comment, "You lack any form of understanding," Vaughn's facial demeanor noticeably shifts, his face descending and mirroring the motion of a shallow inhalation. Right before she could finish her statement, an abrupt and piercing noise came out of nowhere, interrupting the conversation. As the sound reached his ears, Vaughn's gaze immediately shifted towards its source, filling him with a sense of unease and making him tremble with uncertainty about his presence in that particular moment.
