Chapter Twenty Three- Vaughn

Gnawing on his bottom lip as his eyes connected with the blinking cursor Vaughn sighed loudly as he wondered not for the first time if enrolling was the best move that that he could have done. After all he was always contemplating whether he truly belonged.

But then again since enrolling he had made tremendous strides. He no longer needed the release of sex in front of a camera to make him feel happy or loved. But that didn't mean he didn't miss it, that he didn't want it. But to him there were far better things that he needed to focus on.

Taking a deep breath Vaughn blinked his eyes opened and closed rapidly before his eyes moved from the rapidly blinking cursor, Vaughn glared at the time. He couldn't believe that it was already 3:45 in the morning, and yet there was nothing on the document. He hated when his mind became a jumbling mess, but right now he had only Arenik, to thank for that. For the simple fact that ever since he had told him that Athiss, his husband, his love would be back here in Idaho all Vaughn could think about was this was his chance, his chance to show the man that he still cared. That he was still the same man that he was all those years ago, when they had wed.

But he knew that no matter what he did now was for naught, for the simple fact he had asked Athiss to wait for him. And yet he did nothing to try and prove that he loved and cared for him. That he needed him. All he had proven was that he didn't care, that what they had was nothing. Vaughn hated the fact that it would seem to Athiss and to anyone looking in that he didn't care.

Honestly, to him that was the last thing that he wanted to portray for the simple fact Athiss meant everything to him. He wanted to have a life with the man that he loved and cherished more than anyone in the world. But he also knew that he didn't want to have to force Athiss to stand beside him while he dealt with Laylia and all her bull crap and home wrecking.

He wanted to make sure that Athiss was safe.

Vaughn knew that he needed to make sure that Athiss was safe. That he wouldn't have to deal with or suffer from being around Laylia. He didn't want Athiss to bear witness to all the hate the woman harbored towards them both, no matter what she did Vaughn always chose Athiss. Athiss was all that he needed to feel alive and full.

But he knew that he had made mistakes.

Quickly scooting away from the messy table Vaughn took a deep breath as tears started to fill his eyes. He couldn't believe that he had let the one thing that really mattered to him slip through his fingers. And if he could do it all over again he would choose Athiss above all else. If only dreams like that really existed. If only you could rewrite your mistakes to turn the mistakes into the reality that you wanted.
