Tapping the pen against the paper that sat in her lap in a rhythmic rhythm Cheryl, eyed the blank page with mirth. She knew that she had to write them these good-bye letters. No matter how badly she knew that she couldn't leave this earth without saying what she needed to say to them.
The words for these letters weren't coming, her mind was drawing a blank.
What could she possibly say to the two most important men in her life. Especially, when you were in love with one, and the other was your brother. The man that always seemed to be protecting you even when you didn't deserve it.
She knew that she didn't deserve his love nor respect not after telling him that she fell for his husband, her best friend and that she couldn't stop her feelings. No matter how badly she sometimes wanted to.
Slowly bringing the pen into her mouth she bit down on the cap as she wiped at her eyed being momentarily distracted by the wetness that she noticed on the paper.
There was nothing more that she wanted to do then to scream out that this wasn't fair, that she still had so much more to offer the world. She didn't want to die.
However, she knew that no matter how much she screamed and shouted the path that she was on was one where she would lose the fight. After all she could tell how tired she had been lately, and she knew that her time was running out.
Even though she wanted nothing more than to have her brother, and best friend near her for the remainder of her days, she was scared. She really didn't want them to see a side of her wife that they've never seen before.
She knew that dying unhappy, and around someone that resented her, may not be the way to go, but she couldn't help it. For all her failures in life there was one thing that she would never regret and that was loving Athiss, and their daughter.
That is why she had been preparing for their little girl.
She wasn't sure what would happen when she was gone. But she no longer felt safe leaving that precious, adorable child with her wife. If there was anyone that she should have been able to feel safe about raising her child, it should have been her.
Cheryl, always thought that Sammy would love her always and unconditionally no matter what she did. However, it wasn't as if Sammy didn't quickly catch on how she felt about Athiss. It was just that Sammy seemed to think that she could easily fall out of love with him.
Someone so gentle and loving. She knew that she was the cliché of love when it came to falling for your best friend. But honestly, she couldn't help it and if she was being true to herself and her feelings. She never wanted to.
Love wasn't something that you could turn on and off on a whim.
The only thing that she wanted him to understand, was that's he didn't trick him into making their daughter. She just wanted a baby to have someone that she could share something with before her time ran out.
