Song of the Chapter: Bea Miller- I cant breathe

Vaughn swallowed harshly before speaking in a quivering shaking voice. "Mother- ", but before he could finish what he had to say he heard her smooth and gentle voice come across the line. "Yes Hun, I'm free you can come over at any time." Smiling softly Vaughn willed his voice to stay steady as he spoke once more. "Alright Mother I'll stop at your favorite place and bring some food so don't worry about cooking, and I'll see you soon".

Eyeing the dashboard Vaughn was about to say forget it when he heard: "Alright son, I'll be waiting." It took him a moment to get his bearings back because this was the first time in years that she had called him son. Although he knew that he was her son, it was nice to hear her say it. Taking a slow breath of air, he went to hang up the phone when he heard: "It's going just as planned, he's on his way now, we won't have to wait much longer.

Forty minutes later Vaughn pulled up to his parents' house when he noticed a shiny red car swerving wildly barely missing the side of his car. Although the car was the least of his worries the thing that worried him most was that the person seemed to be peeling out of the garage of his parents' house. Again, that wasn't what he was really worried about now. The thing that he was worried about was what someone like that was going to do when they got on the open road. So, without thinking he pulled his cellphone out and dialed the emergency line. Seconds later he gave the description of the car and told them that he was worried that if they weren't taken off the road that they would kill someone. The operator assured him that they were taking this seriously, and not to worry before disconnecting the call.

Taking a deep breath as he placed his phone back into his pocket, he did he wondered if he should run away. Something about this made him jittery. All he wanted to do was close his eyes and forget about everything that he needed to do. But he knew that he could no longer run, running was what got him in this mess in the first place. Honestly, he was so sick of running and letting things boil over until there was no way out for him.

Just look at what happened between him and Athiss, and Laylia. But this time it had to be different. It was time for him to say what he wanted instead of allowing everyone to walk all over him. He knew that talking to his mother was only the first step in the many that he needed to take. But honestly, this had to be the first one. Because without putting this past him there was no way that he would be able to move forward.

However, he knew that he was more than willing to get it done no matter the cost.

Timidly bringing his bottom lip into his mouth Vaughn slowly brought his trembling fingers forward as he took the key out of the ignition. Once the key was between his hands he twisted it back and forth for a few moments as he tried to get his breathing and nerves under control. As soon as he felt like he was okay he opened the car door and stepped out taking solace in the breeze that surrounded him.

Gently humming as he walked Vaughn made his way over to the passenger side door, but before opening it he placed his car keys into his pocket and took one last breath of air before getting the nerves and opening the door. However, even though he knew that this was something that he needed to do, it was easier said than done because knowing and doing are to different things.

As he bent down to reach in he grabbed the many bags from the restaurant he smiled. He was smiling because the amount of food that he had with him right now would have made anyone think he was serving an army. However, it was only going to be his mother, him and maybe his father.
