"It's me!" A voice came from the other side of the phone.
I knew undoubtedly that it was Rudraksh but just to make sure, I pulled the phone away from my ear and brought it in front of my eyes.
Rudra 00:09
The name on the screen made my breath hitch and without delay, I put the phone back on my ear.
"-ello?"
"Yeah! Yeah! Sorry. I was distracted." I cleared my throat, "You were saying something?"
He hummed, "I have just landed in India and I got to know from Aditya uncle that you went to Paris again." He paused, "May I know why?"
"Just a second!" I excused myself from my friends and went to their balcony, "Yeah! I- actually, I had to invite my best friend and her fiancé for the wedding. That's why."
"And it couldn't have been done by someone else except you?" Rudra asked.
I frowned, "No! Of course not." I mustered the courage to answer him, "You would have done the same if it was for Karan bhaiya, isn't it?"
Karan Grover, the best buddy- more like a soul brother (just like soul sisters) of my fiancé. He is a diamond merchant and loves to collect precious stones from around the world. He lives in London with his family. I have just met him twice, one during my engagement ceremony and the second time, it was some business party that I had to attend with Rudra as his fiancé after the engagement.
I heard him sighing, "No! I wouldn't. And waise bhi, the official invitation hamper had been sent to him by me." He said.
My eyes widened and I looked at the phone with a disbelieving gaze, "You aren't serious?! I thought he is your best friend, isn't he? Then how can you just send the invitation to him, without inviting him personally?" I demanded answer.
"Well, I don't do crazy stuff like you." My mouth and eyes gaped more, if possible, "I wasn't going to fly all the way to London just to hand him the invitation by myself. I am too busy for that."
What a rude insaan! I thought.
"And you have time for flying to Indonesia overnight just for business?" I asked, feeling somehow ignored and uncared for.
"It was an urgent matter, Yuvika!" He stressed out my name, "and yeah, work is important. For everyone. Especially, Agnihotri's. We didn't make such a huge empire which has respect, fame, pride, money and everything overnight, you know!"
I knew from where he was coming, it was also right. But sometimes, you need to focus on your personal life as well, apart from your professional life. But, who would make him understand that.
