The morning sun cast a soft glow over the Agnihotri villa, illuminating the beautifully decorated interiors. I woke up, my mind immediately drifting back to last night – the Valentine’s Day date with Rudra, the romantic atmosphere, and our first kiss. The memory made my heart flutter and my cheeks flush. I wondered how Rudra was feeling. Would he act differently today? Would things be awkward between us?
I got dressed in a pink ruffled sleeves organza dress and headed downstairs for breakfast, trying to shake off the nerves. As I entered the dining room, I noticed the usual hustle and bustle of the family gathering for breakfast. Mom and Dad were already seated, and Dadajii and Dadi were chatting animatedly with Bua. Whilst Mithali, Meera, Priya and Raeesha were engrossed in online shopping.
I took a deep breath and joined them, taking a seat next to Mom. "Good morning, everyone," I greeted, trying to sound as normal as possible.
"Good morning, beta," Mom replied with a warm smile. "Did you sleep well?"
"Yes, Mom," I lied. In truth, I had barely slept, my mind replaying the events of the previous night over and over.
Rudra walked in a little later. He looked as composed and stoic as ever, but I noticed a brief flicker of something in his eyes when he saw me. He took his usual seat across from me and greeted everyone.
"Good morning," he said, his voice steady.
"Good morning, bhaiya," Raeesha chirped, glancing up from her phone. "You look extra dapper today." Rudra gave her a small smile.
I could feel the tension between us, a subtle undercurrent that only we seemed to notice. We both avoided eye contact, focusing intently on our breakfast. The conversation flowed around us, but I found it hard to engage, my mind constantly drifting back to the kiss.
Bua noticed my silence and gave me a curious look. "Yuvika, you’re unusually quiet today. Everything alright?"
I forced a smile. "Yes, Bua. Just thinking about some work I need to catch up on."
She nodded, seemingly satisfied with my response. The family continued their conversations, oblivious to the awkward tension between Rudraksh and me.
After breakfast, I decided to take a walk in the garden to clear my head. As I stepped outside, the fresh morning air helped to calm my racing thoughts. I wandered among the flowers, lost in my own world, when I heard footsteps behind me.
