After dinner, now it was time for some dancing and entertainment. Rudraksh knew his family would have his head if he didn't dance with his newly married wife on the night of their wedding reception and moreover, it wouldn't look good in front of all the media houses and the guests so he decided to go with the flow.
The hall's lights dimmed, and a hush fell over the guests. The announcement for the first dance echoed through the speakers. My heart raced as I saw my husband on the dance floor, looking impeccably handsome in his tuxedo.
The opening notes of "Tum Hi Ho" from *Aashiqui 2* began to play, filling the air with its melodious charm. Taking a deep breath, I stepped closer to him, feeling the softness of my gown. He took my hand, his touch firm yet gentle. We moved in sync, our steps hesitant at first but gradually becoming more fluid. As the music guided us, the distance between us seemed to shrink. I felt the warmth of his hand on my waist, his slight pressure as he led. Despite his usual aloofness, a subtle connection formed, a silent communication through our shared movements.
At one point, he leaned in closer, whispering, "You're doing great. Just relax." His small acknowledgement sent a thrill through me, and I smiled up at him, feeling a spark of hope.
As the song reached its crescendo, we executed a graceful twirl, and I found myself pressed against his chest, our faces inches apart. For a brief moment, his formal mask slipped, revealing a flicker of softness in his eyes. My heart skipped a beat, holding onto that fleeting connection. The final notes lingered in the air as we came to a gentle stop. Applause erupted around us, but all I could focus on was the rapid beating of my heart and his proximity. He gave me a small, almost imperceptible smile, and I felt a glimmer of hope.
Walking off the dance floor hand in hand, I cherished the moments of closeness and the promise of a deeper connection in the future.
“Bhabhi, you two looked so cute up there.” Raeesha gushed, hugging me.
Then, as if on cue, the DJ switched to an upbeat Bollywood track, "Gallan Goodiyan" from *Dil Dhadakne Do*. The energy in the room shifted instantly. Dad, a usually reserved man, pulled Mom onto the dance floor with surprising enthusiasm. They moved with a joyful grace that brought smiles and laughter from everyone.
Raeesha, Priya and Mithali, bubbly and full of life, grabbed my hands and twirled me around. “Come on, bhabhi! Let’s show them how it’s done!” Raeesha exclaimed. We danced together, their infectious energy pulling me out of my shell.
Soon, other family members joined in, transforming the dance floor into a vibrant celebration. Cousins formed a circle, clapping and cheering, while uncles and aunts swayed to the rhythm. The children, uninhibited and full of excitement, darted between the adults, their laughter ringing through the hall. I noticed my husband on the sidelines, his formal stance relaxing as he watched his family. For a moment, our eyes met, and he gave me a nod of approval. It wasn’t much, but it felt like a step in the right direction.
