I returned to my room after the walk with Mithali, feeling a little lighter from the fresh air and our brief conversation. The villa was peaceful, the afternoon sun filtering through the curtains, but as soon as I closed the door behind me, the nagging thoughts returned.

I picked up my phone from where it had been charging, expecting to see something—anything—from Raghav or his team. My fingers swiped across the screen, but there were no notifications. No threats, no cryptic messages, not even a subtle reminder of his presence.

That was strange.

I had braced myself for some sort of retaliation after yesterday. I thought he’d try to intimidate me, push me into a corner, but there was nothing. It’s like he’s disappeared, I thought, a wave of unease creeping up my spine.

I sat down on the edge of the bed, staring at the phone in my hand, my thumb hovering over the screen. Silence from Raghav felt... wrong. He wasn’t the type to back off easily, especially after how close things got. I expected him to come at me harder, to threaten me again, but instead, there was only this eerie quiet.

Where is he?

The room felt too still all of a sudden, the quietness too loud. My eyes flicked to the window, where the sunlight warmed the space, but no amount of sunshine could chase away the unease building inside me. Something was off, and I didn’t like it.

Rudraksh's voice startled me, breaking through the quiet and pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Lost in your thoughts again?" his deep, familiar tone cut through the silence, sending a jolt through me. I turned sharply, my heart skipping a beat.

He was standing in the middle of the room, still dressed in his office attire—dark trousers and a crisp white shirt, the sleeves rolled up just enough to show his forearms. The tie was loosened slightly, and his expression was unreadable, his dark eyes locked on me with that usual intensity.

I blinked, still processing how I hadn’t even heard him come in. "Rudra... when did you—"

"Just now," he said, taking a step forward, his gaze never leaving mine. "You didn’t notice because you were too busy worrying about something. What’s going on?"

I swallowed, my hand gripping the phone a little tighter. His presence, his sudden appearance—it threw me off balance, especially when I was already feeling unsettled about Raghav’s silence.

"Nothing," I replied quickly, trying to regain my composure, though I knew lying wasn’t going to work with him. He could always tell when something was off.

He raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying it. He took another step toward me, his expression softening just a little. Rudraksh's eyes softened, but there was still that hint of expectation in them. I could feel it—the silent urge for me to open up, especially after everything that had happened yesterday at the Jaisingh house.
