Standing beside Rudraksh at our wedding reception, my emotions were a whirlwind. I had dreamt of this day, imagining it filled with joy, warmth, and mutual adoration. Yet, my husband's cold, distant demeanour cast a shadow over my heart. I smiled and greeted guests, my face a mask of happiness, but inside, I felt a pang of loneliness. The realisation that my partner, the one I had committed my life to, seemed indifferent on such a significant day weighed heavily on me. Amidst the laughter and celebration, a sense of disappointment and melancholy settled in, dimming the brightness of what should have been one of the happiest moments of my life.

As I stood beside my husband, feeling the weight of his indifference, a wave of relief washed over me when I saw my papa, chachu, and chachi approaching with Amit bhaiya. Their familiar faces and warm smiles were a welcome respite amidst the overwhelming emotions of the day. Papa’s eyes sparkled with pride and love, a stark contrast to the coldness I felt from my husband. He hugged me tightly, and for a moment, I felt safe and cherished again.

“How are you, princess?” He asked, making me chuckle.

“It hasn't been even a day, Papa!” I said, pulling back from the hug as I looked at him teasingly, “Already missing me, huh?”

“Always!” He kissed my forehead, making a sense of warmth spread across my heart.

“I'm fine, papa! And happy.” He pulled back with a face that showed how relieved he was.

Chachu and chachi, too, showered me with affection and kind words, their presence a reminder of the unconditional support of my family. Amit bhaiya, with his usual playful grin, cracked a lighthearted joke that made me laugh despite myself. Their genuine happiness for me was palpable, and it momentarily lifted the cloud of disappointment that had been hanging over me.

In that instant, surrounded by my family's love and warmth, I felt a flicker of hope. Even though my husband's demeanour left me feeling uncertain and lonely, I was reminded that I wasn't alone. My family was here, and their unwavering support gave me the strength to navigate the complexities of my new life.

As I stood on the stage beside my husband, the bustling reception hall a blur of faces and lights, I saw my in-laws making their way towards us. My heart raced with a mix of apprehension and hope, eager for a sign of warmth that might bridge the emotional gap I felt with my husband. One by one from dadaji to Raeesha, everyone gave us their best wishes and welcomed me to the family once again.

My mother-in-law, Shalini mom approached us, her demeanour poised and elegant. Her smile was polite, "Welcome to the family," she said, her voice smooth.

I thanked her, trying to match her formality with my own grace, hoping to make a good impression despite the nerves fluttering in my chest. Next, Rudraksh's dad stepped forward, his expression serious and reserved, yet there was a hint of warmth in his eyes. He hugged me sideways, offering a few words of congratulations. I smiled and nodded, expressing my gratitude.
