After having their dinner, Yuvika was sitting by the boat rail whilst Rudra went downstairs to fetch the dessert from the refrigerator. Looking out at the lights bouncing around as reflections off the harbour, Yuvika was so immersed in her thoughts to notice Rudra coming up behind her.
"Yuvika!" She heard Rudra calling her from behind and turned to face him.
He was holding a bouquet of garden roses with some different coloured clematis in between them.
"This is for you." He said, giving the bouquet to me, "I was supposed to give you when you entered the boat, but I forgot."
Yuvika smiled, "That's totally fine. And they are gorgeous. Thank you." She nodded.
"And here are the desserts!" He said, handing her a cup of Eton mess whilst taking a seat beside her.
"Oh, thank you. I love a good dessert with strawberries." She smiled at the glass cup in her hand, poking the messy dessert with a spoon.
"I think strawberries are overrated." He said, making Yuvika look at him with an offended look, which he noticed and continued, "I mean, yeah, they are good. But it is basically used in every dessert. Like in cakes, ice creams, cookies, tarts, popsicles and many more. And before you assume something, let me tell you that, I haven't made this."
Yuvika gave him an amused look, "Trust me, I didn't expect the dinner either." She grinned, making him chuckle a little and she couldn't help but feel proud to make him laugh.
"So?" He said, grabbing her attention from the dessert in my hands, once again, "Are you ready for tomorrow?"
She ignored the heart eyes thrown at her by the Eton mess in her hands and focused on her fiancé instead, who was back to his usual self again. Super serious!
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"For the wedding functions! The wedding and the afterlife." He said, pausing before carrying on, "do you think you're ready to bear the responsibility and consequences of being the wife of Rudraksh Agnihotri?"
Yuvika smiled, softly at him, "what do you think?"
He frowned and pondered the question in his mind whilst Yuvika looked at him attentively. Then after a few seconds, he shrugged.
"Maybe. Maybe not." He paused, "who knows. Life is unpredictable and so are you. You have a great fighting spirit yet you have that fragile beauty of innocence. So it's all up to you, if you're ready for it or not."
Yuvika was confused how to take his words, as a compliment or an offending remark but whatever it was, it felt her good to know that at least her fiancé knows her well.
