"The storm's picking up," Andy says walking into the room. I turn my head away from the window, away from watching the pouring down rain to where the woman stands. My legs are drawn to my chest. My arms wrapped around them. Andy smiles when our eyes lock. She walks over and sits at the bay window, looking out. "News says power might go out."
"Oh," I let out gently, biting my bottom lip gently. "I don't like the dark."
Andy smile warms, she scrunches up her nose and shakes her head. "Can I be honest? I don't either." She reaches over and places her hand on my knee. "But I got a ton of candles and flashlights. We'll be just fine."
"Can we... Can we camp out on the floor again like last night?" I ask and pick up my head a bit. Andy nods.
"Of course!" She exclaims and gently squeezes my arm rather than my knee. "How about we set up in the living room? There's a carpet out there and we can even make a pillow fort."
"Really? I've never made one of those," I say, excitement filling me. Andy nods, smiling.
"We have to do it then! Come on!" Andy stands and goes over to the blankets that were still on the floor from last night and this morning. "Help me carry this out?"
I nod and unwrap my arms from my knees and drop my knees. I stand up, wincing slightly but push myself to go and help Andy grab the pillows and blankets. We take everything out of the room and into the living room. We set it all on the edge of the couch.
"Grab that end of the coffee table for me?" Andy points going to the other side. I nod and grab a hold of the one end. We pick it up and I follow the woman's lead, placing it right next to where the tv stand was. We sit it down gently and I look at the carpet. Andy walks over and grabs the oversized blanket placing it down on the carpet, making it big enough for both of us. I stand there for a second before walking over and grabbing the pillows placing them down neatly, organized.
"I'm going to run and grab a sheet to make the base for our fort. You want to get underneath the cabinet by the front door and grab some candles and the flashlight?" Andy says heading towards her bedroom. I nod and turn away from the living room towards the front door. I walk over and bend down at the table, cabinet thing. I open up the bottom doors and look through it. A few candles are scattered down there. My eyes roam and search gently reaching in and grabbing a couple apple crisp and pumpkin spice smelling candles. They were always my favorites. I don't know why but I go with it.
I grab about four and then the flashlight, walking back over towards the living room setting them on the coffee table Andy and I moved. The sound of thunder causes me to jump and back up hitting somebody. I jump again and swirl around locking eyes with Andy's.
