Nurses come and go. I stand at Caroline's side but out of the way, sure not to cause any trouble as they check on her. Her mom has been in and out of the room. Her phone constantly blowing up and her also checking on her husband, Caroline's father. Him and Caroline had the worst of it. Him far worse than Care. When the last nurse leaves, I look to Caroline only to find her blue eyes already on mine.

"I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the station," Caroline says, her blue eyes flickering between mine. I shake my head from side to side, reaching behind me to the chair. I pull it forward, closer to the bed before taking a seat. I sit down and cup my hands together.

"You don't have to apologize. You didn't know a fire would break out," I say, raising my shoulders then letting them fall. Slowly Caroline's head nods up and down. Her eyes tear away from mine to her hands. I tilt my head. "Care-"

"I didn't want Joey. I wanted you," Caroline cuts me off. Her words fast. I look at her. "I want you."

I sink my teeth into my bottom lip.

"Also, Andy keeps looking at me oddly," Caroline says. I tilt my head and look towards the door. But Andy was nowhere in sight. A low sigh escapes my lips turning my head back to Caroline, nodding slowly.

"I told her what happened," I whisper. The girl turns her head towards me. Our eyes meeting. "But talking with her I also realized I never gave you the chance to explain what exactly happened. All I heard was you and Joey...But that was it."

Caroline nods. Her lips separate. "I know-"

"Sorry to interrupt," a voice spoke as the door opened. I jump and turn my head, seeing Caroline out of the corner of my eye also look to the door. There Dr. Montgomery stands with a smile. "Y/n, are you doing better since our last encounter?"

I swiftly glance to Caroline out of the corner of my eye then back to Addison and nod. "Yeah, I'm okay Dr. Montgomery," I respond. The woman comes closer.

"You know you can call me Addison," She warmly smiles, and I nod, dropping my head. "You must be Caroline?"

"Yes ma'am," Caroline responds. I lift my head seeing Addison walking over onto the other side of the bed chair thing examining Caroline briefly.

"Well nurses were right. You seem okay. We'll just have to keep you here for a couple hours, make sure everything is really okay." Addison's lips curve into a smile. Caroline nods. I sit there, avoiding the doctor. Addison nods and heads for the door. I let a low sigh escape my lips as I look at Caroline and.

"I'll be right back," I tell her, earning this look that I quickly look away from and instead go to the door following Addison out of. I exit the room and pull the door closed. "Dr. Mon- Addison?"

The doctor stops and turns around. Our eyes meet and her lips curve into a small smile. "Yeah?"

"I wanted to apologize for the other day and how I acted," I say, gently. My eyes were on the doctor's but not really. "I'm sorry. And I'm sorry you had to see me like that."

"Oh Y/n-" Addison steps closer to me and places her hands on my shoulders. Her eye contact was crazy. Not like crazy crazy, just in the way that she gives good eye contact. Something I really struggle with but feel like I'm slowly getting better with. "You don't have to apologize for that. You were going through a tough patch. I understand."

"Yeah," it's all I could think of to say. The doctor squeezes my shoulders then lets go.

"You seem better now and I'm glad. But if you ever feel like you're going back to that bad place again please don't hesitate to reach out to me or someone. We're here for you. We want you to succeed."
