Summary: Anakin is too blinded by his need to please his master to realize something is off.

Anakin wasn't sure why his master got so upset every time he went to see the chancellor. They had fought about this a lot, the latest confrontation taking place last night and Obi-Wan predictably coming up with his usual "I have a bad feeling about him" excuse. Well, Anakin didn't care. He had gone to dinner with his friend again tonight and the chancellor had complimented him on how well he looked, on his success in his training, saying he saw a great future ahead of him. He wasn't overly critical or jealous of him, like his master was. That last one Chancellor had explained to him, when Anakin had complained about Obi-Wan being prickly.

"Well, my boy." He had said. "You have great power in you. You are already superior to Obi-Wan, and he is jealous of your talent and gifts in the Force. I'm afraid he is putting you down just to feel better about himself."

At that moment it had made perfect sense, but now heading back to the temple, a small part of Anakin wondered if Obi-Wan truly hated him. Was he really his master's superior? And did he even want to be? The thought made him frown and push down on the gas pedal of his speeder bike.

Of course he did! Everyone was telling him he was too young and stupid. He wanted to prove them wrong! He didn't need his master. Didn't need his firm reprimands, or his large hand pressed to his chest to hold him back.

Chancellor was right. Obi-Wan was beneath him, and that's where he belonged.

He let himself into their apartment, relieved to find it quiet and dark, his master already asleep. Interesting. It was only a little after midnight, but the man was old.

Anakin headed to his bedroom and as he turned to close the door he came face-to-face with his master, who must have been standing behind it.

"Force! You scared me." Anakin yelped, clutching his chest.

"Did I now?" An almost amused drawl, but even in the low light of the bedroom, Anakin could tell something was off.

Obi-Wan looked more intense somehow, an almost hungry glint in his eyes. Anakin felt fear suddenly, and he reached for the light switch, but his wrist was grabbed before he could reach it.

"M-master?" Anakin squealed, embarrassed that his voice sounded so weak. Why was he scared of Obi-Wan ?!

"I told you not to meet Palpatine. You disobeyed. You always disobey my orders, defy me. I have tried to be patient and kind to you, but it doesn't work. Strength is the only power you recognize, huh?" Obi-Wan spoke with a sneer and walked Anakin back, radiating anger.

"Master, I'm sorry." Anakin whispered, his fear becoming more intense. He had never seen his kind and patient mentor like this.

"You are lying to me now! You are not sorry." Obi-Wan threw back and pushed him to sit down as they had reached Anakin's bed.

"You are making me do this. I didn't want to! But this is the only way to save you." Obi-Wan spoke, and Anakin noticed a coil of rope on the bed next to him.

"Master, please. I don't understand." Anakin pleaded, looking up at the other Jedi.

"Shh. It'll feel much better once you surrender. Or do you want to fight me? Prove to me what a big man you are?"

Anakin thought about it for a second, realizing that deep inside he had already chosen to surrender. He couldn't imagine ever truly fighting Obi-Wan in anger or with the intent of hurting him. As much as he hated it, he also loved how his master guided him, kept him in line.
