❤️Full Title: The Anakin Skywalker Crash Course on Being Married (sequel to How To Get Married Without Falling in Love - A Failed Case Study Conducted on Anakin Skywalker)

🗡️🗡️🗡️🗡️🗡️🗡️

Summary: “I’m married now.” Anakin continues. Obi-Wan looks at him, no hint of emotion betraying his calm face. “Our marriage is a commitment I made, and we share a duty as husbands. So I can’t just go over there and…” He shifts where he stands and takes a deep breath. “I know that. It’s fine.”

Feeling more uncomfortable than he has in weeks, Anakin stands by the high table next to his husband and tries not to let his gaze drift towards Padmé for the - fourteenth? - time in the past minute.

It’s only the second time since he’s been married to Obi-Wan that they’re both in the same room, and this time, he didn’t even know beforehand.

His husband, who is looking very handsome today in his festive gown, silver crown on his head and jewelry all over his body, leans closer towards him.

“It’s fine if you want to go talk to her, Anakin.”

So he’s not been very discreet, then.

“I- I don’t think that would be very appropriate.” He can already see the fit the holo-net would throw if somehow, a reporter had found a way to the luscious estate everyone’s staying in before the gala.

“Appropriate?” Obi-Wan asks, his voice strained by mirth, as if he doesn’t understand the severity of the situation.

Even if no one would find out, doesn’t Obi-Wan understand the obsession Anakin’s had with Padmé in the past? Doesn’t he know it runs deeper than the whole being engaged for most of his life part?

Anakin sighs and reminds himself that Obi-Wan and him have led very different lives until now, and so sometimes they have to do this thing where they communicate to make the other understand their viewpoint better. It goes swimmingly, but Obi-Wan has been very patient, always, so Anakin should stay calm as well.

“I’m married now.” He continues. Obi-Wan looks at him, no hint of emotion betraying his calm face. “Our marriage is a commitment I made, and we share a duty as husbands. So I can’t just go over there and…” He shifts where he stands and takes a deep breath. “I know that. It’s fine.”

He looks down at the bracelet Obi-Wan has gifted him for their sixth-month anniversary. It doubles as a key for a new speeder. Not just any speeder, but a new model they’d had to adjust to Stewjon’s atmosphere before it could be safely used. All so that Anakin could have something nice.

It was nice, more than nice, it was a dream come true.

But it had also served as a reminder that Anakin hadn’t even been aware it was their anniversary.

He’s just… been enjoying being married to Obi-Wan. Has been enjoying Obi-Wan. Not doing anything, just receiving.

And while Obi-Wan, time and again, is reminding him that he doesn’t expect anything from him in any way as long as he’s happy, he feels like he should put in more effort.

So all day he’s been trying his best to be good husband and to not be a menace to society and, well. It’s harder now that Padmé’s here.

Obi-Wan puts down his glass and turns towards him more fully, blocking his sight of Padmé.
