Anakin knocked.
“Come in.”
“Master.”
“Anakin,” Obi-Wan closed his book and looked up. “It’s good to see you well again, my friend.”
“Thank you,” Anakin bowed. “And thank you for leaving my clothes for me.”
“You’re welcome.”
“Thank you for staying with me in the hospital.”
“Of course.”
“May I come in?” Anakin asked. As if he ever did before.
“Of course,” Obi-Wan put his book aside.
Anakin closed the door gently but didn’t take further steps into the room. He put his hands behind his back. Left hand holding his right wrist, Obi-Wan guessed. “I hear you’ve been with me the whole time.”
“You were very seriously injured, Anakin,” Obi-Wan said, softly, because he can’t say it louder than that. The images were already too loud. Anakin, unresponsive and bruised, and wet with blood, blood, blood.
“Heard you got into a fight with some of the masters.”
“I didn’t get into a fight,” he sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“You yelled at them.”
“Maybe a little.”
“You swore.”
“Mildly.”
“You never left my side.”
Anakin sounded like he was smiling but Obi-Wan couldn’t be sure, he couldn’t look at him, the coward that he was. So he stared at the soft white carpet and sunk further into the giant armchair he was sitting on.
“Of course I didn’t.”
“Until this morning.”
“I knew you’d shortly be waking up. Everything had healed.”
“You left the temple.”
“I needed some space. The war is as good as over. Palpatine’s filth is wiped off.”
“Why?”
“Why what?”
