With everything that was going on, Charlie had completely forgotten one thing: Aurora's birthday. It would be in about three weeks and she had nothing planned yet. Nothing. Not a single thing. Her daughter would turn two years old and she hadn't bothered to plan even a small party.

Now was almost too late to invite anyone because not many would be able to come on such short notice but she had to try. If no one else then at least she knew that her parents would be here. They would have a small, family birthday with a cake and some gifts.

It wasn't what her original idea was like because after Aurora's first birthday - one big balloon of number one, decorations, princess costume, self-baked cake, and her parents - she had promised to both herself and Aurora to make the second birthday even better but now she was doubtful.

Unfortunately, Mason would be missing this one too just like he had missed her first birthday. As always, he had used work as an excuse but who knew who he was sleeping with? That should have been one of the many, many signs to leave her ex-boyfriend that day and not only a few months later.

"I'm so sorry, baby!" Charlie whispered, hugging Aurora and repeatedly apologizing about failing as a mother once again. The poor girl didn't even seem to know that she had failed since she just giggled and ran away, screaming for her to follow.

"Come Mamma! Play!" Aurora turned around and pointed a finger at her, making her chuckle and forget the birthday catastrophe for a second.

"No, baby, we have to leave soon and you still have to finish your breakfast. We're just waiting for Fabian to come with us because get what? Your sister is coming home today. Remember Juliet?" Charlie asked, going to her and carrying her back to the kitchen.

There she sat down next to her and helped her to finish her breakfast, not wanting to do too much for her since she was doing a good job at eating on herself most of the time. She just needed a little help here and there.

It was yet another bittersweet reminder of how much her firstborn had grown up. It felt like she had just given birth to her and held her in her arms for the first time yesterday. Now she was almost two and she had a little sister.

It was true that time flew fast when you had fun because although Mason was a big mistake, she had never been happier than during these two years with her girls. Although, she had also never been more stressed either.

Fifteen minutes later there was a doorbell ringing and she rushed to open it, knowing already who was behind it. She had to take a deep breath and force herself to keep a poker face just so she wouldn't accidentally hug or kiss him or worse, tell him how much she had missed him.

It had been five days since she told him that they should take a little break before even starting anything and dammit, if it hadn't felt like five years. She had almost called him every day since then and taken it all back but each time she got to her senses, reminding herself that giving him this time was a good thing for everyone in the long haul.

Still, when she got the phone call yesterday about Juliet, she hadn't thought twice about who to call. Yes, she knew that her parents would have wanted to be here as well Asher, maybe even Viviana and Ramona.

But she hadn't called any of them. Instead, she had called the one person she would, hopefully, have one day to co-parent with her. That was, if everything went as planned and Fabian still felt the same way on Sunday as in that restaurant when he had been basically begging for her not to take a break.

Well, today was Friday and although she had indeed told him that they would talk on Sunday about everything and only on Sunday, this was much much-welcomed change in events. She hadn't asked him if he needed more time to think or if he had already made up his mind about her and the girls being enough but she was hopeful.
