It was clear that she hadn't suspected anything since she looked like a deer in the headlights while staring everyone with wide eyes. For a second, Fabian feared that she was going to cry but instead she just kept mumbling what very confused.
All of that lasted for about a minute until she snapped out of it before hugging him very tightly, whispering thank you over and over again. Although he loved the feeling of having her in his arms and feeling her, he couldn't take the credit.
"Thanks but it wasn't me. It was all Viviana, I just got an invite and a job to bring you here," he explained before tightening his hold on her. "But you can still stay in here. All day. I can just carry you."
Carry her? Way to sound like a creep. Maybe she thought that it was romantic which it was supposed to be.
"I also told you to bring gifts, doofus. Where are they?" Viviana asked from beside Charlie's parents.
"I left them on the table... doofus." He smirked back, wishing that it wouldn't backfire.
If he wanted a serious relationship with Charlie, that meant that he would have to get along with people she loved and her cousin was one of them. Being playful and calling each other doofus was hopefully one way to start that.
Even more important, he was determined to get a better relationship with Charlie's parents. They were the people who created that beautiful, smart, wonderful woman and he would forever be grateful for that.
He had never had a reason, to be blunt, to kiss someone's ass but today Fabian would try his hardest. If they didn't like him, he couldn't tell how Charlie would react.
The first, and only, time they met was when Juliet was born and he had no other choice but to be part of that. It was something that he would never, ever forget and they had been very grateful and had even hugged him as if he had saved both Charlie and Juliet's lives.
Apparently, he had managed to make a good first impression but it had been a special day for many reasons and it couldn't be comparable to the so-called normal days. Who knew what they thought of him now that he had started dating their daughter?
Well, almost dating.
Damn, he would have to make it official already because he was whipped as fuck. Not only for Charlie but her daughters too who had stolen his heart. It was very unfamiliar and strange when he suddenly started to miss even Aurora and Juliet if he hadn't seen them in one day.
If you told him one year ago that he would be dating a single mother with two young children and love it, Fabian would have laughed at your face and called you crazy. And yet here he was already planning how to woo her mother and make her father respect him.
"Take her!" Charlie commanded and gave Juliet in his arms before running to hug everyone in the room. Kissing the baby's forehead, Fabian also walked inside while shouting after Aurora who still had her jacket on while running to her grandparents.
Once again, Fabian was amazed by her trust to take care of them while she went to do her own things. There was no hesitation in whether or not he could look after her children without her by his side. It meant more to him than anything else in the whole universe.
After getting all the extra clothes off Juliet and Aurora, Fabian let the older girl run around while still keeping an eye on her. Still carrying the baby, he went to stand next to Charlie who was busy talking with her parents and two older people who had to be her grandparents.
As soon as he stopped by her side, everyone stopped talking as they started to stare at him. Feeling like he was going to faint because they were Charlie's family and their opinion must mean a lot to her and he wanted to make a good first impression, Fabian offered his hand to her father.
