Time went by and before she knew it, today was her first time back at work. As they had planned, the children would stay with her parents at least now in the beginning until Juliet was healthy enough to go to the daycare.
If you asked her that that would never happen. After how her life started in the NICU and how careful the doctor had recommended them to be with her health in the beginning, Charlie doubted that she would ever feel good about leaving Juliet in the daycare. But she knew it wasn't realistic so this had to be the second best option.
The four of them - Charlie, Fabian, and the girls - had celebrated yesterday their so-called last day together by just enjoying each other's company, playing with the girls, and relaxing by watching a movie that was interrupted by Juliet's loud crying.
Later in the evening, after they had put the girls to sleep, Fabian wanted to celebrate alone and show her some extra love in the bed very naked. It was the perfect way to start the next chapter in their lives.
She wasn't the only one who had doubts about going back to work so early. For so many times, Fabian had suggested that Charlie would stay at home until she got tired of it and he would help with the bills and that she didn't have to worry about anything else but making the girls, and herself, happy.
As much as she appreciated that, Charlie had immediately shut him up with a kiss. Even though she didn't want to leave Juliet already even if it was only with her parents, Charlie knew that there was no way she would depend on another man again.
Especially someone she had just started dating. No thanks, she was fine on her own with her salary which might not be a billion dollars but it paid the bills.
Not that she doubted his love for her but she would much rather shoot herself in the leg than let him pay for their bills while she just sat at home unemployed.
"Let's go, Rory!" Fabian's loud voice rang through her apartment.
"No! I play!" Oh no, had she started to play again? Charlie had cleaned her dolls away once earlier when they started to get ready but she must have taken back after Charlie went to put on her makeup. She had been in the bathroom less than two minutes.
Then she heard more walking and Juliet crying and Fabian using many curse words before he started to talk with her oldest in the living room.
"I know you want to continue playing but we have to leave soon. Your grandma and grandpa are waiting and they're gonna play with you. Isn't that fun?" Although he sounded sweet and caring as always whenever he talked with her daughters, she could still hear the stress and impatience in his voice.
It wasn't any wonder, though, because his meeting at the hotel would start in an hour and although they were taking separate cars due to going in different directions, he had wanted to leave at the same time as them. Now that poor, loving man would be late because of her stubborn daughter.
"No!" That was all that Aurora said, short and simple. Well, at least she had done something right in her life and that was teaching her children to fight for what they wanted and never give up.
"Sorry, baby, but I gotta clean these up. Jules, you can stay on the couch and wait for me, okay? Don't move!" Considering that Juliet was only three months old and couldn't even crawl yet, he probably didn't have to worry about that.
"Noooooo! My pony! Give me pony! Nooooooo!" Then more screaming and shouting and crying and oh my god, how was he still here? He had every excuse to run away and let Charlie deal with her children on her own.
"How about we do this? You can get this with you and play with it in the car and your grandparents home? Okay, here you go. You can get any toy with you as long as you come with me now."
