"It started in the college."

That was how she started the story of how she and Mason met. It wasn't the happy lovestory she had wished for and talking about what a fool she had been made her feel embarrassed of herself, to say the least.

"It was the first week of June and we met in the beach and you know, started hanging out and eventually got together. Back then he was very charming and handsome, funny but still caring. Always looked out for me," Charlie closed her eyes in case she might start tearing up again.

She looked up to Fabian, making sure that she still got his attention. He kept staring at her seriously, not once taking his eyes off her. "It didn't take long until I was madly in love. At least I thought that I was." Now she wasn't as sure about that.

"Everything was going well and we continued dating and, as you can see, I eventually got pregnant. Obviously, it was an accident because we had dated less than two months. I still remember when I took that test and how shocked I was. Mason was too but he was also... it was different with him."

It was the second week of August and her period was late and until now, Charlie had been sure that she had missed the last one only because of the stress. It's not like she had any other symptoms.

Scared, nervous and feeling like she might throw up or faint because of what was happening, Charlie had to call her boyfriend because she was too scared to do this alone.

Mason had promised to come as soon as possible because he had been out with his friends. Charlie stayed sitting in bed, staring at the white test in her hands that could change her whole world. She kept trying to imagine the different scenarios of what they would do if it was positive but it was too scary.

Then she realized that while she was still young and had important things to do, Charlie also knew that she wanted to have children. She wanted to be a Mom. That was why she wasn't freaking out as badly as she had first assumed because although the timing was anything but perfect, she wouldn't be too upset. Couldn't be.

Putting her hand on her stomach, she tried to feel anything, even a little hand or a movement but felt nothing. But if there was a baby in her... It was scary, so damn scary and Charlie was already terrified at how she would tell about it to her parents but deep down she knew that she would love the little boy or girl with everything she had. Mason would too, she was sure of it. He might just be shocked at first.

Hearing knocking on the door, Charlie rushed to open it, feeling like she was going to get a heart attack any second. Immediately she kissed him on the mouth, loving the feel of his hands on her hips as he pulled her closer.

"I like your way to say hello," Mason smirked before kissing her once more.

"Hey," Charlie smiled nervously, pulling him away from the door to her bed. She opened her mouth to explain why she needed him here but now that he was here next to her, it was the scariest thing in the world.

"So, what's up?" Mason asked casually, leaning to the wall as if he had no worry in the world. And at least for a few seconds he didn't have but poor Charlie would have to destroy that. Please let him react well...

Taking a deep breath, Charlie opened her mouth to say something but suddenly forgot all about the rehearsed speech she had practices. Intead, she only said one thing.

"I'm late." Fuck. Well. There went her plan to try to tell about it gently, prepare him somehow instead of just blunting it out that way.

"From...?" Mason frowned, clearly not understanding until he saw Charlie taking the pregnancy test from under the pillow. Then he paled as if he was getting sick. "No. No. You're not, right? Is this some early April's fool's trick? This isn't funny."
