Something was wrong.

Charlie could feel it during the lunch and long before that. Fabian had been acting different since he came back from the hospital, avoiding looking at her and barely talking to her while still being amazing with Juliet.

When they moved her to the children's hospital, he kept asking a bunch of questions from doctors and nurses who were all losing patience with him. Charlie had almost apologized but she knew that it came from a good place. He just worried a lot.

When they went to lunch, Fabian made sure that she ate and even paid for everything but other than that, he was quiet, and only talked about Juliet and Aurora. It had looked like he had wanted to say something else because he kept opening his mouth repeatedly but then he had just shook his head.

It was almost like he was expecting her to say something but she had no idea what. The only thing she could think of was confessing her feelings but how could Fabian know about that? She had tried her best to act normally around him as if she hadn't been thinking about him almost non-stop and gotten jealous if she even thought about him with another woman.

And how she kept thinking about how his lips felt like and how good it would feel to cuddle with him on the couch, just relaxing together, or how good he would be on the bed and how much bigger his dick would be than Mason's...

How the hell did Fabian know about that? She hadn't been acting like a crazy teenage girl around him, hadn't she? It's not like Charlie had had even time to obsess about him because of Juliet. All of her time went to worrying about the girls. Although she had thought about Fabian a lot, that didn't mean that she had any time to do anything about it.

"How are you?" Fabian suddenly asked, again with that strange look on his face.

"Fine?" It was more a question rather than a statement. "Just happy that Jules got out of the NICU, I was getting tired of being there that long. I mean, I get that she needed all that treatment but... you know what I mean, right?"

Fabian nodded. "Anything else?"

"Like what?" Charlie asked, eating more of her fries.

Fabian had bought them to some burger restaurant after she had suggested McDonalds and this seemed to be a better, more expensive version of that.

Even after she had said no, that they were just fine, he had just said something about never taking her to a fucking McDonalds, are you kidding me Lottie how could you even suggest that? We're getting real burgers.

Now he rolled his eyes and looked almost impatient. "I'm talking about Mason. Were you just never gonna tell me about how he came to the hospital? I've waited all day for you to say something."

"Oh... you heard about that?" Charlie bit her lower lip nervously, looking at anywhere else but him. He took that as a sign that he was right, she was never going to tell him.

"Yeah but not from you but fucking Ash," she flinched at his cursing and the sound of his voice. Seeing that, Fabian relaxed and spoke in a softer voice. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to curse at you and yell, I'm just... angry, I guess. And worried and disappointed that you didn't tell me about it. Why didn't you?"

"I just didn't want you to worry," she explained, now feeling like Asher was right. She should have just listened to him because she knew that Fabian cared about her and her children. That he would want to know if something bad happened. That he was genuinely a good guy which was rare these days.

Now he looked at her as if she had lost her mind. "Haven't you still understood that I'll always worry? I'm thinking about you and the girls all the damn time. When I'm here at the hospital or home or, I don't know, just out grocery shopping. You have to know that."
