Juliet had to stay in the hospital for three days until she was free to go home. Her fever ended in two days but they had wanted to keep her in the hospital one extra day just to make sure that she was healthy to go home.

Before that, they also tested her hearing which hadn't gotten any better in a month which meant that it was time to try hearing aids that went behind her ears. Charlie would never forget the time she had reacted to her voice for the first time, giggling and smiling at her while Charlie talked about how much she loved her.

It had been five days since that and so far everything had been pretty close to normal. Everyone had been healthy, they had been busy preparing for Aurora's birthday which would be on May 7th and she and Fabian had been almost inseparable since the hospital.

Since they made it official, Fabian had been spending time with them even more than before if that was even possible. The difference, though, was that now they had started to kiss and touch each other - clothes on - more and more, and oh god, it felt amazing. It was insane how loved and appreciated she felt with Fabian when it had been almost the complete opposite with Mason.

Speaking of Mason, she had finally got enough courage to call him and ask for a meeting to talk about Aurora and his parental rights and his interest in being a part of his children's lives or the lack of it. She had been pacing all around the kitchen nervously, preparing for the worst while Fabian was right there beside her to support her.

Surprisingly, her ex-boyfriend had agreed to meet her without a fight and even sounded surprised when she mentioned the rights to Aurora as if he had forgotten that he still had any. Oh well, soon Mason could go on with his life and forget about them for as long as he wanted. The longer the better!

"Stop that, everything will be okay," Fabian commanded in his calm, gentle voice as he put his hand on top of hers to stop her from playing nervously with her fingers. The girls were with Charlie's parents today to make sure that they wouldn't be here when Mason came to their apartment while Fabian had insisted on coming along.

"What if he won't do it?" Charlie said out loud her biggest fear.

"He will. How many times had he shown any sign that he wanted to be their father and a part of their lives? Zero. That's how many. And if he starts to fight back I'll beat his face and force him to do it." That was probably meant to calm her down but it wasn't working.

"What if -" And that's when there was the sound of a buzzer that surprised her even though she had been waiting for that sound the whole day.

Charlie stood up but before she could walk any further, Fabian was already answering it.

"Hello? Fabian Murphy." A pause, "Lottie's boyfriend. Yeah. Just come upstairs and we'll talk more here. It's the fourth floor."

Closing it, he turned to her. "Sounds like an asshole like I remembered but he's coming. Started asking a bunch of questions about us as if we were here to talk about our relationship instead of his kids. Fucking dick!"

Smiling softly, she was almost amused by the change in his attitude. Charlie stood up and walked to her boyfriend and hugged him, ready to do the same for him that he had done for her for the past six hours.

"Calm down, it's gonna be okay."

Sighing, Fabian rested his head to the top of her head before kissing it. "I know. Soon we'll be finally free of that guy and the girls will be ours for good."

We will be free of that guy. The girls will be ours

As if reading her mind, he had a look of panic on his face and he stuttered, "Sorry. No. I mean, they're yours, not mine but -"
