"What do you think?"

There was a new kind of attitude in her answer with a bit of sass and sarcasm which he appreciated because coming here, Fabian wasn't sure if she would even allow him come inside.

Now she wasn't even looking at him as if she wanted to murder him anymore which was progress. Fortunately, there wasn't any yesterday's disappointment in her eyes either which hopefully meant that she had understood that it was just a wrong choice of words.

Of course he hadn't been with her only because he pitied her but because somehow along the way he had learned to enjoy her company. That alone was insane to think about considering how different they were and how young she still was. Never had he had someone like her in his life before.

Hell, until now he had thought that having tattoos and piercings was unattractive but now, looking at all of her earrings, nose ring, and all the tattoos on her body, he had changed his mind. They were actually very attractive, especially with that short pink hair. The tattoos were her art.

There was something in her that he had really started to appreciate having in his life, he just couldn't name what that was. Something close to comfort. Yes, he still felt sorry for her just like any person with even a bit of empathy would but he wasn't here to beg for forgiveness because of it.

Chuckling, Fabian looked at his hands while trying to find the right words for once which has always been challenging for him. The fact that she was sitting so close to him the opposite of the brown, round kitchen table was affecting him and his thinking for some reason.

Taking a deep, shaky breath, he apologized. "I'm sorry if I... I mean, when I said that yesterday and made you feel like I'm your friend only because I pity you. That's not true. I'm your friend because you're this badass mother and even cooler woman. You're also funny and can always make me smile."

That last part was unnecessary.

Instead of answering with words, Charlie just stared at him. She didn't look exactly happy to hear that but neither was she angry anymore, more like confused. It was as if she was trying to figure out if he was telling the truth this time.

It felt like the silence continued for years instead of only seconds but each second made Fabian almost run away. This was why he so rarely spent any time with other people. In here he couldn't even turn on his boss-style to command Charlie to do this and that.

It was a miracle if he stayed alive if he tried to something like that. Fabian doubted that she liked being told what to do. It just didn't seem to be in her personality, instead, she made the choices herself. That's when his mind started to play tricks and he started to imagine her naked in the bed, hearing commands on what position she had to be in...

What the hell was that? Heart beating too fast, Fabian shook his head again while avoiding her eyes, feeling dirty for thinking such things about her. He was supposed to be her friend and friends didn't think about their friends naked, begging to be fucked.

He had no idea where this had suddenly come from but it had to stop now. Maybe he was just horny. Yes, that had to be it. He couldn't have sex with Nora yesterday because she was visiting her friend Camila and had spent the night there. No wonder he had all these strange thoughts and imagines about Charlie.

It made him the worst fiancé in the world but at least it was confirmed that it happened because he hadn't been with Nora instead of wanting to be with Charlie, especially with Charlie being what, seven months pregnant.

He had never been attracted to pregnant women, not that there was anything wrong with that. It just had been something he had never been interested in.
