Unknown POV
"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN THEY CAN'T BRING HIM BACK?"
"W-well.. it's n-not that they c-can't actually bring him back. But r-rather it would b-be p-pointless sir.."
"WHY THE HELL WOULD THAT BE? HUH?"
"The two f-females we saw must h-have done something to him while t-they were inside with him. My men f-found him laying on the f-floor and apparently h-he seemed b-braindead..."
Did I not warn this idiot what would happen if they failed. Of course those idiots couldn't pull it off. Seriously though, why the fuck couldn't a team of fifty men capture two teenage girls and an old man.
Pathetic lowlifes. Taking a deep breath and calmly reaching behind my desk I unsheathed my sword. Then without a word I whirled around and in the same motion decapitated the moron in front of me.
"I told you that you head would roll should you fail." I said as I wiped the blood from my blade. Then turning to the maid standing outside the door I told her to come here. "You. Get this garbage off my floor and clean this up."
After the body was removed and the blood cleaned up I locked the door to my office. Then looking around trying to remember where everything of importance was I hurriedly started packing.
'Fuck. Fuck. Fuck... I need to get out of here. Not only did they fail to bring the mage but now he's braindead and completely useless.. I'm so fucked once they find out....'
Once I had all my essentials and whatnot packed into a luggage bag I turned and headed for the door. After unlocking it and checking to see if there was anyone around, I rushed through the lobby and towards the front door of the building.
As soon as I was outside I hailed a carriage and told the driver to hurry and get me out of town. I even threw him a few gold coins to hurry and not ask any questions.
It wasn't until we were out of the city's gates and moving down the road that I let myself relax. I need to think of where to go. They have connections everywhere. Closing my eyes and leaning back into my seat with a deep sigh, I suddenly heard a light chuckle.
Snapping my eyes open and reaching for my sword I found I was suddenly frozen in place. I couldn't move at anything but my eyes. And directly across from me was a cloaked man sat where there had been no one just a moment ago.
"And just where might you be going huh?" The cloaked man said with a laugh. "Right, you can't speak like that can you? No matter, you don't need to. I just so happened to stop by early to pick up the mage you promised us and imagine my surprise when neither you or him are there..."
I could feel the sweat running down my forehead as I feared what might happen. Why the fuck did they have to show up early? This is ridiculous, I can't even speak to try and talk my way out of this.
"Well now.. you are already well aware of the consequences of failing us. So this should come as no surprise. Unfortunately, your services are no longer required.."
