Rose's POV
Slowly coming to all I could register was an intense pain in my eyes and a brutal headache. Just slightly moving around made my head throb and I didn't even want to chance opening my eyes yet less it made it worse. All I could do was lay there and wait for the pain to pass.
After what felt like forever the ache finally started to fade, allowing me to concentrate a bit better on my other senses. By the feel of it I'm pretty sure I'm laying on a bed somewhere but I have no idea how I got here. I could faintly hear muffled voices not to far away, but by the sound of them I'm pretty sure they're in another room so I couldn't quite make out who it was. The last thing I remember was an exhilarating surge of magic power flowing through me and then killing the dragon.
'Well shit... Can't lay here forever, guess I should get up and find out what all happened..'
Forcing my eyes to stay open despite how sensitive they were and sitting up, I noticed that I wasn't in my torn up gear anymore, there wasn't any blood or dirt anywhere on me either. Cici must have cleaned me up. That thought alone kinda gives me the shivers, hopefully all she did was clean me up while I was out of it. Pushing those thoughts out of my head I swung my legs over the side of the bed and somehow managed to stand up, albeit a bit wobbly.
Taking a look around I noticed that I must be in some kind of cottage or something. There was personal effects scattered around the room I was in and all I could see out the window was woods so I'm clearly not back at an inn. Really wanting to figure out what the hell is going on I inched closer to the door. As I did the muffled voices were starting to get clearer. I could make out three different voices, two females and a male. The two were clearly Cici and Lily, but the third I didn't recognize whatsoever.
As I slowly opened the door I saw both Cici and Lily sitting on an older looking couch that was facing away from me. Standing in front of them pouring a glass of what I assumed was tea, was a guy I've never seen before. He was pretty tall, I'd say somewhere around six foot, and had a rather athletic build. With his long pointed ears sticking out of his platinum blonde hair it was obvious that he was an elf. And judging from the hunter gear he has on I'd say he's either an archer or a ranger. His most striking feature was his vibrant emerald green eyes.
"Well look who's finally awake." He suddenly said. Since he was the only one facing my direction he was the first to notice me. "I'm glad to see that you've recovered."
As soon as he said that both the girls whipped their heads around so fast it was almost comical. Lily looked a bit exhausted but shot me a kind smile anyway. Cici however, being the over-the-top wolfkin she is, practically launched herself over the back of the couch and wrapped me in a bear hug. Luckily I expected about as much from her so I was able to keep from falling over as she nuzzled her face into my neck.
"I was so worried... I was starting to think that you weren't going to wake up..."
"Well, here I am." I said as nonchalantly as I could. "How long was I out?"
It was the elf guy that answered my question as he walked over to us and extending his arm for a handshake. "You've been out cold for about two days now. Sorry for the late introduction, my name is Elrin, it's a pleasure to officially meet you."
After I was somehow able to pry Cici off of me long enough to be able to sit down, she started to explain what all had happened. I vaguely remember up to the point where I had passed out and started to fall after killing the dragon. Apparently Lily had managed to catch me midair and take the brunt of the impact herself, leaving her pretty injured as well. Once Cici had climbed down into the crater to get us the temple had started to collapse and having to carry both me and Lily, she barely managed to make it out.
It was then that Elrin had came across us while out hunting. Seeing the three of us injured and Cici being the only one conscious, he rushed over to help. Thankfully he lived in a small cottage not too far away so he helped move me and Lily here to apply first aid. After he got us all patched up he offered to let us remain here to recover. Lily had came to yesterday fully recovered albeit pretty exhausted.
"Well I sincerely appreciate what you've done for us Elrin, guess I owe you one."
"Think nothing of it, it's in an elves nature to help others. However, I am curious about one thing.."
"Which is?.."
"Just what we're you three doing in a God's sacred temple?"
