Lizzie's POV.

I walked into the kitchen next to my sister, I can't believe what just happened a few minutes ago, she let me give her a little peck on her lips.

"How do you think she's holding up?" Ash says pulling me out of my thoughts.
"I think it's definitely hard for her, but I feel like she's handling it well, she's having a good time with Otto, she's even been laughing in the last few hours more than she's laughed in the last few months so that's a big breakthrough for her."
"Yes definitely, how do you think things are looking between the two of you?" She asked.
"Well I think things are starting to look better now and I have more faith than before" I told her smiling.
"Great! What made you change your mind? Because yesterday you weren't so sure."
"Before you went into the backyard, we were talking and she let me give her a peck on her lips, she didn't pull away or say anything to me, she just let me do it" I said excitedly.
"Oh my god, that's good news then".
"What's good news?" I heard that sweet familiar voice come into the kitchen.

I saw Valentina walk into the kitchen with my nephew in her arms, he was hugging her neck as if she would disappear if he didn't have her in his arms.

"We were just talking about Lizzie getting a new proposal to act in a movie" Ash says.
"Oh you didn't tell me that" Valen says.
"They just called to tell me" I lied.
"Congratulations Lizzie" she says hugging me.
"Thanks cutie" I whispered in her ear.

She pulled away from me with a smile on her face and her cheeks flushed.

"Is lunch ready? Because I think this little tick is hungry" Valen says tickling my nephew making him laugh yet not letting go of her for a second.
"Yes, it will be ready in a few minutes" my sister says to her with a smile.
"Great, I think Otto would get along great with my nephew Tatum, they are the same age, do you think you could take Otto home so they could play together?" Valen asks Ash.
"Sure, I think Otto would love that."
"Perfect! I'll tell koko to take Tatum home one of these days so they can play together" Valen said excitedly.
"It's a plan then" Ash says just as excited.

Valen disappeared to go to the TV room along with my nephew as it seemed neither of them could be without the other, minutes after talking to my sister I joined them.

I sat next to her while they watched Hercules, the little boy was sitting next to her playing with her hand.

"Are you having a good time?" I asked.
"Yes, I think this was what I needed" she says looking into my eyes.
"I'm glad to hear that" I said smiling at her.
"Thank you" she said to me.
"Why?" I said frowning.
"For being here with me through everything" she says.
"I will always be for you angel."
"Tata, Liz shhhhhh" the little guy says looking at the TV.
"oh... okay" Valen says laughing.
"Yeah, he's got attitude" I whisper laughing.

She intertwined our hands and put her head on my shoulder letting out a sigh of relief.

Minutes later my sister walked into the room inviting us to lunch, Valentina kept her touch on me throughout lunch and I really liked that.

"So when are you planning on going back to work Valen?" Ash asked her sitting down on one of the couches in the backyard.
"I don't think there's any need to rush into that" I said before she could answer me.
"In fact a few days ago one of the directors of a movie I auditioned for a while ago called me, he said I got the part, so I think I'll be starting work shortly" she says sitting down next to me.
"That sounds exciting" my brother-in-law says.
"It is, I'm excited to get back into acting, it's been a long time since the last time I did it."
"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked slightly offended.
"Because I forgot, it wasn't something I kept thinking about all this time" she says with a sweet smile.
"Congratulations Val" my sister says excitedly.
"Thank you" valentina turns her whole body towards me staring at me "are you happy for me?" She says with her sweet voice.
"Of course I am, I'm so happy and proud of you, no one deserves it more than you baby" I say giving her a kiss on her forehead.
"Thank you, sweet girl" she says taking my hand putting it in her lap while tracing shapes on it with her fingers.
"It's good to see you guys together again" my brother-in-law says making my eyes widen.
"Honey" Ash says.
"We're not together" I said feeling my heart beat fast.
Valen clears his throat and sighs.
"Yes, we are not together" she said.
"I'm sorry girls, I just... I just thought" he says.
"It's okay, don't worry" Valen said giving him a smile.
"I think it's time to go, it's getting dark" I said standing up from the couch and Valen followed my movements.

We walked inside the house towards the front entrance.

"It was a pleasure being with you today, I hope to see you soon" Valen says hugging my sister and then her husband.
"Thank you for coming" they both said at the same time.
"Liz I'll wait for you in the car" she says hurrying out of the house.
"I'm so sorry, I thought you guys were back" he says apologizing.
"It's okay, don't worry about it."
"Do you think she was upset about what he said?" Ash asks me.
"I don't know, I don't think so, I hope not" I say.
"I'm really sorry" he says.
"Don't worry, I should go, she's waiting for me" I say saying goodbye to both of them and leaving the house.

I got in the car and she drove down the road, she didn't say anything the whole way, it was obvious something was going on in her head but she wouldn't let me know.

Valentina's POV.

We are not together, she and I are not together, hearing her say that made me feel something I don't know how to explain, I didn't want to hear that even if it was the truth.

As I drove more I thought about that moment when she said that, I can't just be her friend, I can't and I don't want to, I want to be hers, it's agony to have her so close and yet so far away. It is pure agony to feel her scent invade my body and not be able to do anything about it. It is simply agony not to be calling her mine.

I parked in the driveway of my house and got out of the car as fast as I could, hurrying to the door.

"Hey, what's up?" Lizzie says walking up behind me.
"Nothing" I said without looking at her as I walked.
"Hey look at me" she says grabbing my hand making me turn to look at her "tell me what's wrong".
"I just can't do this" I said angrily.
"Okay I'm sorry if what he said upset you but you can't hold it against me".
"No you don't understand" I said running my hand through my hair frustrated.
"Then explain it to me" she says confused.
"There's no point in doing it"
"Yes it does, Valentina tell me what's wrong".
"I just can't be your friend Elizabeth, I just can't" I said angrily.
"So now you want to push me away from you?" She says angrily too.
"No" I said letting a tear fall "but I can't be your friend, I hate it, I hate having you close to me and not being able to kiss you, I hate you looking at me with those eyes and not being able to tell you how beautiful you are, I hate not being able to have you with me like I would like, I hate every moment that passes and I don't have you next to me, I wanna be yours, I want to wake up next to you, I want to hear you laugh because of something I said, I want to love you and not as a friend"

The next thing I knew she grabbed my waist pulling me towards her, my hands landed on her neck, her eyes stared at me, she looks so beautiful, she moved her head slightly to the side and kissed my lips, softly and very gently, I kissed her back without thinking twice, her tongue brushed my bottom lip asking for entrance which I gave her immediately, feeling her tongue on mine made me sigh making her smile into the kiss. She was the first to pull away, putting our foreheads together. Both with our eyes still closed.

"I love you Valen" She whispered.
"I love you Lizzie."
