End Game

Elevated heartbreak

Lizzie's POV.

Exactly two weeks have passed in which I haven't seen her and it has been the hardest thing I have ever done, I don't want to talk about it because I don't want to cry now.

After a couple of hours I'm on the red carpet of the VMA'S awards, I had finished giving some interviews and was about to enter the event when I heard several reporters and people screaming.

"She's here" "she just got here" "take pictures of her" "oh my god it's her, right?"

"what's all the fuss?" I asked my assistant.
"Apparently Valentina has just arrived" she says.
"Wait what?" I said turning my full attention to the car parked in the driveway.

Her driver got out of the car and opened the back door, everything was in slow motion I watched as she stuck her feet out in black Louis Vuitton heels, She slowly got out of the car, finally letting herself be seen.

She was wearing a tight black dress with gold details, her skin looked pale as if she hadn't been in the sun for a long time, she looked extremely thin. Yet she looked beautiful because that's just the way she is, beautiful.

She took a deep breath and smiled, I noticed how difficult everything was being for her but still she continued to smile, she approached her fans as she walked towards the carpet, the audience was screaming her name and the flashing cameras were shooting at her non-stop. She took a few pictures with some fans and waved to the audience.

She arrived at the red carpet and had her pictures taken, she didn't smile, she just posed and looked at the cameras. Her assistant said something to her and she shook her head. After that she walked towards the entrance of the event with her head down so the flashes of the cameras wouldn't blind her, she passed by me but she didn't notice because of her urgency to enter the place.

Once inside my eyes started looking for her, it wasn't hard to find her, she was talking with Shawn in the center of the place, I got a little closer to them, I wanted to be as close to her as I could without letting her notice me. The man said something to her who looked sad, she just nodded looking down at the ground, he kissed her head and walked away leaving her standing there alone. 

"Darling it's nice to see you" some old ladies said approaching Valen.
"It's good to see you too" she replies with a fake smile.
"Oh wow look at you, how thin you are" one said.
"Oh yes, you should definitely keep doing that, you look divine" the other added.
"Do what?" Valen said confused.
"Do whatever you're doing to stay slim" one of them replied.
"You've got to be kidding" Valentina muttered.
"I'm sorry, what did you say?"
"It was nice to see you ladies, but I have to go somewhere else" Valen says walking out of the small circle.

Valen walked over to one of the waiters who had champagne on his tray and she took two glasses.

She downed the liquid from one of the glasses in one sip, then all the other glass and did the same, it was as if she needed to drink in order to continue with the night.

The event started making us all go to our seats, I kept my eyes on her, she was sitting two rows diagonal to me so I could see her perfectly, she was getting drunk on purpose. She was taking one drink after another.

At the first commercial break everyone got up from their seats to talk to friends or go to the bathroom or get something to drink.

I for my part followed Valentina from a safe distance she was still drinking some alcoholic beverage I have no idea what it is, she looks pretty tipsy. Her manager approached her and I could see how Valen tensed up.

"You need to stop this, what are our sponsors going to think if you keep behaving this way?" her manager says to her.
"It's my only way I can go through with tonight, if I remind you I don't want to be here at all" Valen says annoyed.
"It's not about what you want to do, it's about the money you're getting" the manager raises her voice.
"And here I am, aren't I? So leave me alone and fuck off" valentina yells at her.
