The servant was called Xian Zong and at that moment she literally realized what the four corners, chants of Chu[1] meant.
For a moment her mind went blank, echoing the remnants of her friend's speech a few minutes ago.
The Master will behead her.

Seeing the other in shock, the slightly more rational colleague took the lead and bowed and spoke.
"Master, do not consider what these foolish maids say in a moment of despair. It is all out of concern for the Lady Empress Dowager. Please forgive us."

Xian Zong recovered his senses and repeated the bow made by his friend, appearing very regretful.
"I'm going to ask just one more time and if you don't answer or try to deceive me I guarantee you will be punished. What did the last doctor suggest?" Qiang Yong's voice came out cold and resolute, leaving the two servants in shock.

Of course, he really didn't intend to do anything to the two girls. They had served the Empress Dowager for a long time and she never complained about any of her services. On the contrary, the relationship between the Empress and the maids could be considered as a sisterly friendship.

Stammering, Xian Zong took responsibility for having said too much: "Master, forgive this servant's audacity. The fox doctor said that he had a well-known doctor, who once helped him with a very difficult case and that he was quite experienced.  He said that he works at a clinic on the slope of Song Zhu Mei Mountain[2]. It is said that he has cured many yao who were discredited... but he..." At this point,  Xian Zong's voice trailed off due to the increase in tremors in your body and anxiety.

"It's just that he...?" Qiang Yong pressed feeling his patience running out. What was so problematic about him? Did he charge too much, was he dishonest, was he a fugitive or something? He would overlook anything.
"It's just that he's human, Master!" The other servant said at once, feeling much lighter in her heart.

The Emperor looked at her, impassive, and at the moment neither of them could tell what was going on in her head. Hatred? Anger? Or surprise? Qiang Yong was hardly surprised by anything, but this time the Heavens managed to catch him.
"A human doctor who attends yao, you say?"

"Yes, Master. It seems that he treats both humans and yao. The fox doctor didn't give many details, just said that he would have lost the patient if it weren't for his help."
An awkward silence settled between both sides.

At the time the fox doctor commented on this, Xian Zong remembered it perfectly,  he was very serious about it.
"I know the Emperor hates humans, but perhaps this is the last chance to save the Empress Dowager." He paused and smiled discreetly.
"I'm sure he can do it."

He emphasized this in such a way that that sentence was burned into Xian Zong's memory. He can.
"Bring Dr. Fox here." Qiang Yong let out a long sigh and let them go. The two servants ran out to relay the orders.
This time the Emperor needed to think carefully.

Even if this doctor was capable of curing any disease in this world, would he agree to treat the Empress Dowager knowing how many humans had already perished at the hands of the Dragon Emperor?
It could be that this doctor was even a wartime enemy! This would be the perfect opportunity to take revenge on him by killing his mother!

Qiang Yong's heart was paralyzed. On the one hand he wanted to save his mother at any cost, on the other hand he couldn't trust a human. Although, he thought, there had been a human he thought he could trust once. Could this be it? The chances of them being the same person were slim.

But also, the servants said that this specific human served yao, who knows if he hid his Emperor identity and passed as an ordinary yao? This possibility was remote, as he was the best-known character to the farthest reaches of the western lands.
