The Emperor was looking forward to this part. So Su Ning actually went after him. He was the one who had escaped by a thread. "And what happened next?" Qiang Yong asked, completely absorbed in this part.
Lai Guen moistened his dry lips. "He came back two days later but was in a sorry state."

He lowered his head. "Deng Choi didn't get that bad, but Su Ning's core was fragmented. When he was a little better he told me that he had also removed all memory about the weapon creation technique. It was a double damage to the soul, it wouldn't have another result."
"Was he really bad?" The Emperor choked a little as he asked.

Lai Guen was surprised as a smile slowly spread across his face. Even if something bad had happened many years ago to a loved one, it always seemed recent.
"I don't know much about the Artisan technique. Tung Shiu and Su Ning were proficient in them, but I know that when you cut a piece of the soul it's like cutting a physical artery, there is a loss of spiritual energy."

"It is necessary to stop it and suture it with a spiritual thread. Su Ning cut Deng Choi's connection and sutured it quickly at that time. However, cutting the soul is an indescribable pain, how could he bear to do it twice, once to eliminate the sword and the other to destroy the soul fragment containing the memory, I can't say. He must have managed to find the strength to do this, when he returned there was a lot of loss of qi, and then he ended up getting sick... he was in a lot of pain, missing of appetite and had a high fever that was difficult to bring down."

"And the worst thing was that Deng Choi who was under my responsibility escaped the same day he returned. I had been taking care of him with the painkillers, I thought he wouldn't be able to escape and I let my guard down. Hehe, what an excellent master I am..."
Ren Loo bit his lower lip. This part was very clear to him.

Deng Choi fled and gathered some rebel soldiers with him. They wanted to continue the fight, even though he no longer had the ill-fated sword. Madame Ren and her brother have been hunting him since her husband's death. Qiang Yong found him first and was injured, appearing a day later. And Ren Loo who was in another yao army command had the opportunity to find him at a disadvantage.

The outcome was inevitable. She captured and beheaded him, allowing the other soldiers to escape.
"I convinced Su Ning not to go after him and leave it in the care of another section of the army. I took care of him until he recovered and then we learned that Deng Choi had been killed."

Ren Loo realized that Lai Guen did not know that she had been Deng Choi's executioner.
"When he found out, Su Ning got up and went to request Deng Choi's body. Luckily, the yao were generous and let him bring the body with him."
This time Ren Loo had an insight. That's why the doctor seemed familiar to him before!

But she didn't recognize him because he was wearing a veil, he was younger and his hair was tied up! Exactly the description Qiang Yong had given him!
Ren Loo had brought Deng Choi's body and head as a trophy to the yao camp. A few days later, a Sect doctor requested an audience with her. She had no idea what it could be and ended up accepting it.

The doctor did not come armed and was accompanied by a junior, also completely defenseless. The doctor just prostrated himself before her and begged her to take Deng Choi's body to be buried according to the rites. Ren Loo looked at him strangely. Why would a doctor come after a cultivator's body? They were from the same Sect, but from completely separate factions.

"Eh? May I know what your relationship is with this cultivator, doctor?" She questioned curiously. The doctor remained kneeling.
"I have a debt to pay to this person, madam. I am aware that he has provoked grudges from many, but I beg his kindness."
"I could even hand it over, in exchange for the sword he used to kill my husband. Interestingly,  he wasn't in possession of it."

"I'm sorry madam, but Deng Choi's sword has been destroyed."
"Oh, really?!" Ren Loo was shocked. "I take it you don't know who did this?"
"If anything can be given in exchange in place of the body or the sword, I have with me the Sect jade token he carried." Su Ning ignored the first question and proposed her.

"Do you have this on your person? Shouldn't you have it on your person too?" Ren Loo frowned in disbelief. How could Deng Choi not even carry this with him?
It turns out that after fleeing, Chen Doi left many belongings behind, including his Sect identification card. Su Ning thought that there might be a need for some exchange, so he brought it with him.

Bluntly, he took it out of the pocket on his sleeve and showed it to the dragon. Madam Ren held the jade piece and analyzed the writing. It was Deng Choi's name and his position as Tung Shiu's first disciple in the Sect. It was legitimatesim. She once again turned her gaze to the doctor, who didn't dare raise his head. He looked exhausted and weakened.

"There is no need to remain kneeling. I will keep this. You can take him. I will ask you to hand over the body."
"This humble one thanks you for your generosity." He stood up somewhat slowly, bowed and left with Junior outside the tent.
Ren Loo still watched them leave.

The young doctor carried the body wrapped in cloths with the help of his companion to a borrowed cart and they set off without any fuss. She didn't get to see his face, but she had the feeling that that person carried a feeling of guilt towards Deng Choi. Debt was always a heavy burden.

She turned the green jade token between her thin, battle-hardened fingers. She received news that her brother was in a nearby yao camp recovering from an injury. She decided to move her own army there. After all, with the Soul Eater destroyed, they no longer had anything to fear. This war was won.

Days later, the Human Emperor proposed surrender and asked for a peace agreement, shortly after Qiang Yong had fully recovered.
After  bringing Deng Choi's body back, Lai Guen and Su Ning had to explain what had happened to Tung Shiu and his disciple. Many were not inclined to believe the story and it was very shrewd of Su Ning to rid himself of all knowledge about his master's technique.

Many wanted to have it at all costs but now it was impossible to obtain. Thus, the doctor was expelled from the Sect and persecuted by his former fellow cultivators. Thus, Su Ning also moved away from the Medical Sect, becoming a traveling doctor until he settled in Song Zhu Mei Mountain.

Author's Note

A lot has been clarified, but we still don't know what Su Ning and Qiang Yong's first meeting in the cave was like 🤔.
