Chapter 58 - Setting a Trap

As the doctor predicted, Qiang Yong and Madam Ren's efforts were in vain. The courtesans were too scared to accept any terms or advantages that might be offered and the owners of the house, despite the pressure of it being a request from the Emperor himself, were reluctant to accept the proposals made. Qiang Yong didn't want to force them and tried various means to persuade them.

For the first time he had been defeated despite all the arguments he presented. Back at Orchids House, he sighed before entering the room and looking for the doctor to deliver the bad news. Su Ning was sitting next to the newly awakened girl's bed and talking to her. Her speech was still low and soft, due to the generalized weakness she still endured.

"Or it's a yao who hates humans!" The Emperor snorted. In the end, Qiang Yong was defeated again. He couldn't dissuade Su Ning from giving up the plan, nor could he think of another one.

The Black Orchid fulfilled its part, announcing that it had brought a new flower to its home to replace the Violet Orchid and that the presentation would be in two days.
Chuan Zuo was recovering well and on the day of the presentation she gave her belongings to the doctor for use. She was eager to help them.
Qiang Yong, however, was still in a bad mood.

Su Ning assured that the potion he would take only lasted for a day and that he would still be able to defend himself as a cultivator if something went wrong. He also counted on their protection. The courtesans didn't trust him, but how could he not?
"I would trust you with my life with my eyes closed and hands tied." He said to Qiang Yong before taking the potion.

With these words, the emperor felt slightly comforted, but he didn't say anything. The effect was not immediate, so Su Ning went to Chuan Zuo's room where she would help tidy him up. Ren Loo was curious to see her brother's reaction and was probing him as he wandered down the hall.
"If you still want to have children, I think that's fine to get it." She commented, shaking her head thoughtfully.

"Maybe to extend the potion's effect for nine months."
"Shouldn't you... shouldn't you as a woman help them instead of standing here saying nonsense???"
"Have you ever seen me all made up and decorated like these women?"
The Emperor mumbled something incomprehensible and Ren Loo laughed, opening a bag of jujubes and stuffing one into his mouth.

"But I'm curious, will the doctor as a woman change a lot? I mean, his face is already a little delicate. Would he become more beautiful as a woman?"
Qiang Yong's expression was almost murderous. He could throw his sister off the ground floor right now.

"Could you take this more seriously?" The Emperor chased her down the corridor, while Madam Ren deftly jumped to the bottom floor, laughing.

Black Orchid passed by them, going to see how Su Ning's work was progressing and smiled at those two. Oh! Nothing like friendship between brothers...
She was a little surprised about the doctor's abilities, she didn't know he was given to the arts. She knocked on the door and went in to see them, letting out an exclamation.
"Doctor, if you ever give up medicine, I'll hire you for double what I pay the girls!"
