It was mid-spring, and Huang Jia's daughter's baby teeth began to emerge. The phoenix took the child to visit her godmother, the Empress Dowager, and her godfather, Su Ning, in the Fortress. Little yao crawled into the guest room. Su Ning assessed her and saw that everything was fine. Despite all the stress he went through, the child was developing well, strong and healthy.

Ren Shyu watched Su Ning playing with the child while the two yao talked and remembered when the doctor was transformed into a child. Both he and the little phoenix were adorable... Wouldn't he and Qiang Yong also like to have a child? An emperor needed an heir after all!

At this moment, Qiang Yong entered the hall. He heard about Huang Jia's visit and went to greet her. Seeing Su Ning playing with the baby, helping him stand up and walk a few unsteady steps, he also couldn't help but go there and tease him.
"Look if you're not a first-time mother!"

Su Ning was unfazed. "MingMing is really cute, isn't she?" Huang Jia had named his daughter after his mother, Huang Ming.
"You're really good with kids, hehe. Maybe I should make a baby out of you."
The doctor immediately turned red and pinched him on the cheek
"Don't be shameless in front of the children!"

Ren Shyu "..............."
The young dragon looked at the couple with the baby and felt slightly uncomfortable. His uncle treated him very well and regarded him as his future success, but now, if he decided to have a son, he would perhaps be left aside...

A little sad, Ren Shyu left the room and walked through the garden. He began to reflect on his future. If Qiang Yong had a legitimate heir, what should he do with his life? They lived in peaceful times, maybe he should just travel the world like his mother had done. Or who knows, maybe he would look for another profession? He could be a doctor or a helper like An Shu was.

Thinking about this, Ren Shyu went to the doctor's clinic, where Han Chia was attending with the help of An Shu. Seeing his stepson with his head down, the snake couldn't help but ask what had happened.
"I've been thinking... if I couldn't learn a few things here at the clinic..." Ren Shyu left out the part that he would be replaced by a future son of Qiang Yong.

"Same?" An Shu looked at him thoughtfully. He had been helping Ren Shyu with swordsmanship, but as a teacher in the medical field he left something to be desired. But he was encouraged by his stepson's interest.
"I'll talk to Dr. Su. Of course you can come here and learn from us. There are very useful practices you should know in cases of emergency."

Ren Shyu also cheered up. He hasn't discarded everything after all. Su Ning and Han Chia did not object to teaching him, but the dragons were all surprised. Was the love for medicine contagious? However, everyone supported him.
"Being the son of Ren Loo, it is logical that one time or another Ren Shyu would have some strange idea." The emperor laughed. "He must have inherited some of her madness."

"Not crazy! We like new experiences!" Ren Loo replied laughing. She was very proud of her son's initiative. She always saw him only concerned with his practice with the sword and his powers, it was good to see him interested in other activities.

The young dragon began his new apprenticeship the next day. Early in the morning, after having breakfast, he, Su Ning and Ah Shu headed to the medical clinic.

Han Chia would arrive a little later, so Su Ning would open the clinic and clean it.
"Eh? Why don't you bring some servants to help clean up?" The dragon was surprised.
"It's habit." Su Ning laughed. "Afterward cleaning is a good method of meditation."
"As?" Ren Shyu asked interestedly.

Su Ning then taught him to empty his mind of thoughts while he swept the floor. Ren Shyu tried, but realized that said is easier than done (It's true, to this day I can't empty my mind by washing the dishes 🙈).

With slight irritation, the dragon began to fiercely clean the clinic, trying in vain not to think about anything and just focus on the task. It seemed like every time he managed to silence his mind, some random idea invaded his head.

Su Ning couldn't help but laugh into his sleeve. Youth always had such a restless mind. Seeing him frustrated, the doctor decided to intervene and took him to learn about herbs and the preparation of medications. This was easier for Ren Shyu, the shelves and their compounds were properly identified and in order.

An Shu was present at this time and showed him some maceration and dilution techniques, as well as a notebook for more difficult preparations.

The dragon was amazed. Medicine really was very complex and he now felt his respect grow for the people who dedicated themselves to this profession. After busy grinding some grains, a first patient arrived and he was invited to attend the consultation.

A rabbit-type yao complained of a lack of appetite and a feeling of being bloated. Su Ning assessed the tongue and pulse, then guided Ren Shyu, indicating what he should observe, the color, what the pulse was like.

The doctor asked a few questions and then explained the diagnosis, a spleen qi deficiency. Apparently the Rabbit had been eating a lot of raw vegetables and this was damaging his organ. After toning the acupuncture points and prescribing a warm diet and medication for abdominal distension, the patient was discharged.

Ren Shyu was satisfied with his performance in the first task. Only under An Shu's supervision, he managed to prepare for the first patient. However, other patients started arriving and suddenly the clinic became busy. Seeing An Shu prepare so many medications so quickly, without confusing the herbs and processes even he scared the dragon.

He didn't know his father was so skilled! At the same time as he managed to observe a boil, he mixed another solution with the tip of his tail and with his hands crushed leaves until obtaining a fine powder. There were three in one! He himself could only do one task at a time!
"With time you get practice." An Shu explained, seeing his stepson so surprised.

The dragon nodded palely and went to hand over the vial he had prepared for the doctor. Han. He barely handed the medication to the fox when a group burst into the clinic shouting. Su Ning stopped the service he was doing and went to check what it was.

Three yao birds carried a colleague, unconscious and wrapped in a cloth. Totally bloodied.
Ren Shyu's eyes widened and he suddenly felt his stomach turn.
Maybe learning medicine wasn't a good idea.

Author's Note

Hehe, it seems that the dragon doesn't like blood very much, 😅. Apparently his career as a doctor and in the military also went into space hahaha.
