Chapter 33 - Waking up from a Nightmare

Huang Jia was placed in one of the guest rooms. Her egg was left in a crib nearby, so she could see it when awake.
For her, it would be an incentive for her recovery to have her son close by.
Su Ning busied himself again with applying acupuncture needles, under the watchful eyes of the Dragon clan members.

"What a horrible thing to do!" The Empress lamented. "By Buddha, what is happening in this world?"
"Does she remember anything?" Madam Ren asked. "From the information we had, the attack was very quick, I hope she is able to give us some details..."
The Emperor glanced sideways at Su Ning, the doctor had a gloomy expression on his face.

After a while, he removed the needles and the phoenix's body shuddered with each withdrawal. As soon as the last needle was removed, Huang Jia opened his eyes and let out a low groan.
Su Ning then called her name softly. The woman looked at him with a confused expression.

"DR. SU! My baby!"
"Calm down, he's right here." He pulled the crib closer to the bed. Huang Jia hugged the egg and hot tears ran down his face.
"Thank you very much, doctor!" She cried for a long time, like a helpless child. Everyone lowered their heads in dismay.

Su Ning had been sitting next to yao the entire time and let her cry as much as he wanted. Finally, as her crying subsided to a muffled sob, he handed her a tissue to wipe her face. Huang Jia raised her face and seeing the others present, she recognized them.
"Emperor, Madame Ren and Empress Dowager... thank you, are you sheltering me? Is this the Fortress?"
