Su Ning can return to the clinic the next morning. With the matter of Xing Ou Yang resolved, he hoped his days would return to the same peaceful routine as always. However, he decided to invite Dr. Han Chia to work with him at the clinic. The fox worked in his den in the forest and did not have the same infrastructure that the clinic offered, so he readily accepted. Furthermore, when one was out, there would always be the other to replace him.

Since there were many rooms in the clinic, Su Ning turned one of them into an office for his colleague. Han Chia would come to work, have lunch with them, and go home, where he could finally have a peaceful home without patients knocking on the door all the time. Qiang Yong felt great regret at the doctor's departure. It was like he was losing him again. However, he still needed to understand how events at the end of the war unfolded.

This way, he could finally find out why Su Ning never looked for him, even though he exposed himself at the end of the war so that everyone would know about him. The Emperor never had good relationships with humans. His father was killed by a cultivator when he was still a teenager and he had to take on all the responsibility as Yao Emperor once he got a little bigger.

Since then the only contact he has had with humans was in battles during the war. The only times he had a cordial relationship with a human was when Su Ning saved him and later when the human Emperor proposed the peace agreement. After that, Qiang Yong became more sociable, he tried to find out who the doctor was who treated him at the Sect but no one knew anything.

Qiang Yong saw all the Sect doctors that were available at the time, but none were as he remembered. Not even the voice.
It could be that this doctor had even been killed in the last days of the war and Qiang Yong was heartbroken for many years. Afterwards, when Su Ning was summoned to treat the Empress Dowager, Qiang Yong had not thought about it for so long, that he treated Su Ning like anyone else. But little by little his memories came back to life and the flames in his heart were rekindled again like a fire.

He and Ren Loo then decided to leave together for Seita a few days later, when everything was already resolved. The Medical Sect was one of the specialized branches of the Nine Star Taoist Sect, where Tung Shiu was one of the masters. The Sect was located in the south of the Central Plains. Su Ning as a child took a long time to reach her, almost crossing the continent to do so.

The dragons decided to fly there, rather than using an array to do so. Generally, Sects use blocks for this type of transportation spell. As a precaution, Qiang Yong sent a message in advance, requesting an audience with the current leader of the Medical Sect. Cultivators were still very skittish about yao but the same didn't seem to apply to doctors. Qiang Yong now suspected that Su Ning was also behind this.

As soon as they landed near the large gates that surrounded the Sect, the Emperor and his sister were greeted by some servants. The place looked like a large complex of houses, divided between the members' dormitories and different study rooms. The current leader was in one of the main halls and received them in a private room. His name was Tong Ye.

Cupping his hands, he bowed to the visitors. He was a tall man, whose hair was beginning to turn gray, although his appearance was that of a mature man, but certainly not an elderly one.
"Welcome to the Taoist Medical Sect,  Emperor Yao and Madam Ren. How can this humble one help you?" He offered her a place to sit and asked the servants to bring tea.
Qiang Yong sat with his legs crossed, in an extremely relaxed and confident posture.

"You took over the Medical Sect recently? What happened to Lai Guen?"
Tong Ye poured him a cup of green tea. "Lai Guen retired two years ago. But he still lives here, in a back house attached to the Begonia Pavilion." The Sect Master paused thoughtfully. "He wanted to go cultivate in a cave, but given his advanced age, I couldn't allow that."

Ren Loo was sitting next to her brother and received her cup. "Why do cultivators like to cultivate in caves so much? Isn't isolated huts suitable, for example?"
Tong Ye smiled. "I believe it's to get away from all kinds of worldly comforts. That's what I can say, I've always been an exclusive member of the Medical Sect. Lai Guen was also a member of the Cultivation Sect, they really have that habit."

"What about Dr. Su?" Qiang Yong took the opportunity to get into the topic.
"Your majesty is referring to Dr. Su Ning? Although he is a disciple of Tung Shiu, he has always been more of a member of the Medical Sect than the Cultivation Sect. Do you know him?"
"I met recently. In fact, I’m looking for more information about him.”

Tong Ye asked in fright, "Did he do something wrong?"
"No! On the contrary, hehe." Ren Loo responded reassuring him. "Dr. Su is an excellent person, but we were intrigued by his past. So we decided to come straight to the source so as not to disturb him. He is a very busy doctor."
"You mean a workaholic." Tong Ye laughed. The Emperor and his sister nodded at the same time.

"Well, then they came looking for information about yao's doctor... we were relatively close during the war... What exactly do they want to know?" The master took a sip of tea.
"Hmm." Qiang Yong thought for a while, where could he start? But Ren Loo took the floor. "Dr. Su now has his own clinic, why did he leave the Sect?"

"He only moved away from the Cultivation Sect, not the Medical Sect. At least once a year he comes here to honor his Shifu's grave. And many doctors contact him when they need help, after all he is a senior! "
"So he left cultivation so he could dedicate himself to medicine?" Qiang Yong questioned. Tong Ye lowered his head

"The truth is a little darker... Su Ning avoids coming here precisely to avoid the cultivators. They consider him a traitor, probably because he attends to yao... The cultivators still don't accept the yao very well. After the end After the war, Su Ning handed over his Sect form and it was destroyed. Tung Shiu asked for the location of his tomb to be a secret and only he knows where it is. This made the Sect masters even angrier at him. If Lai Guen didn't Had he testified that Tung Shiu had actually asked for this, he would have been massacred, especially the way he came back."

Qiang Yong looked at him puzzledly. "How did he come back?" Tong Ye let out a sigh.
"The end of the war was very turbulent in some places. Su Ning was very dejected since the soul was fragmented. We thought at the time that he might have been injured even by Cheng Doi, that sword of his did quite a bit of damage... He was weakened for a long time. Lai Guen took care of him, but never said what he had. Even Su Ning didn't say anything about it at the time. He seemed a little confused about some memories."

"And then?" Ren Loo encouraged him to speak.
"When he recovered a little, he had this long dispute with the members of the Sect. But they couldn't even touch him, Emperor Zhi wouldn't allow it. Even so, he decided to stay away from here too, so as not to harm us I think... ."
“Did you say something about the human Emperor,  Zhi Lu?” Qiang Yong frowned.

"Huh, yes. Tung Shiu introduced him to Zhi Lu when the latter was sick once, he has come to trust him a lot since then. He has his imperial doctors today, but if it is something very serious he will inevitably seek out Dr. Su. He It also seems like I asked him for a lot of advice."
Now Qiang Yong understood why Su Ning knew the war would end. Somehow he convinced the human Emperor Zhi Lu to make the peace deal.

And he did so even though he knew that the spiritual weapon making technique could easily bring victory to humans. It would be a yao massacre. Cultivators would certainly know about his relationship with the Emperor and his position regarding the yao massacre was also not hidden. Therefore, there was no doubt that the Cultivation Sect would mark him as an enemy, and worse, an enemy protected by the son of heaven himself! Their hands were tied!

"Maybe you should look for Lai Guen. He wouldn't hide anything from you and he must certainly know more details about Su Ning's past. He was also close to Tung Shiu, he was his shidi." Tong Ye said. The Dragon Emperor agreed. "If I can, I'd like to speak to him today."

Author's Note

Tong Ye only knows this from the top, imagine if he knew more? I wonder what Lai Guen has to say then 😅.
