Lost and found

I was running late.
As so often in the last time.
I had trouble sleeping.
Again.

Luckily I was so good at my job that no one would make a big deal out of it.
They needed me and they knew it.

Running late didn't stop me from getting my morning Tea from my favourite coffee shop.

I hurried in and thankfully Ryan had my Tea already prepared and only shoved it in my hand.

„You're the best"

I yelled after I payed and hurried out the door.
I sipped on my Tea and hesitated.
It tasted different.
Bitter.
I looked at the cup and laughed.
Ryan had given me the order of some Simon.
The poor guy would probably get a sugar shock when he tasted my Tea.
I shrugged and went with it.

I stumbled into the hospital and made my way to the changing rooms.

„Morning Mel. Late again"

„Only 10 minutes Matty. I assume the hospital hasn't fallen apart in that 10 minutes?"

I grinned as I walked past him.
He rolled his eyes but laughed.

Matty was the doctor in charge this shift.
And every shift I had.
He always paired our shifts together because we were a damn good team.

„No it hasn't. To be honest it's pretty quiet today"

He added learning on the front counter sipping on his coffee.

„Don't jinx it Matty"

I laughed.
I got changed into my scrubs and walked back to Matty.
I leaned next to him and sipped on my Tea.
I scrunched my nose a bit.

„What's with you?"

„Ryan mixed up my Tea and gave me the order of someone else. This guy drinks Tea without sugar. Stange guy really. Who does that."

Matty laughed and handed me some sugar.

„Here. Take some of mine. The poor guy will have the energy of his life with this much sugar"

I laughed loud.

It was really a quiet shift.
After a couple of hours i was sitting on the front desk with some papers as  I got a call from a number I didn't knew.
I hesitated but answered.

„Hello?"

„Eh hi is this Melissa Gibson?"

„Ehm yes and who is this?"

„Oh yes I'm Simon. I found your wallet in front of the coffee shop. Smart thing this information tag in it"

„My wallet? Oh my god I didn't even noticed. Thank you so much."

„No problem. I would bring it to you when you tell me where you are or where I can bring it. I have time"

„Oh yes of course. I work in the hospital. You can just bring it here. Thank you so much ehhh what was your name again?"

„Simon."

„Ohh the Tea guy!"

„What?"

„Oh Ryan must have mixed our orders up. I think I got your Tea.
The one without sugar. You got probably mine.
What a coincidence that you found my wallet"

„Oh yes. I almost choked on it. Hella sweet"

„Yeah sorry for that."

„No problem. I have to finish something and then I would stop by at the hospital. How can I recognise you?"

„Just look for a nurse in pink scrubs. I'm the only one in that colour here"

„Understood. See you later"

„Yeah thanks bye"

I grinned amused.
What a coincidence.
But how the hell did I lost my wallet?
I never lost something like my wallet or my keys.

I just shrugged and turned back to my papers.
After two emergencies that just annoyed me I was back at the front desk.
I had just gotten another Tea from the kitchen.

„Excuse me miss?"

I turned around and looked up to a very tall and broad man.
He was wearing some jeans and a muscle shirt that showed his massive arms.
He had a neat undercut, light brown hair, dark brown eyes, a slight crocked nose and a couple of scars on his face and his arms.
He smiled slightly down to me.

„Ehm yes can I help you?"

„By the pink scrubs and the amount of sugar you just poured into that poor Tea I assume you must be Melissa"

I got slightly red and laughed.

„Oh yes I am. Then you're Simon right?"

„Correct"

He reached into his pocket and pulled out my wallet.
I took it and smiled bright.

„Thank you very much! Can I do anything for you in return?"

„Oh no need for that. It's common sense to bring it back"

„Not for everyone. Believe me."

„Yeah you're right. And don't worry the Tea wasn't too bad"

He laughed slightly.
His laugh was deep and raspy.

„Oh yeah. I'm gonna have a word with Ryan."

I joked.

„You know him well?"

„Well I see him every morning. And almost every time after work. Some would say I spend too much money on Tea"

„There's never too much money when it comes to Tea"

I smiled bright.
The first person that understood my obsession with good Tea.

„Yeah especially because the Tea in the kitchen here is hell. I can barely drink it"

I rolled my eyes.

„What a shame"

I looked a bit closer at him and my eyes stopped at a semi deep cut on his left shoulder.

„I'm usually not the one to give strangers any orders or anything like that but you should really get that checked out. It could get infected when you don't treat it right"

He looked suprised but smiled slightly.

„Thank you but it's nothing serious. I had worse"

„Just saying. You're very welcome to call me for help"

I said with a little bow.

„Thanks."

He looked at his watch and sighed.

„Alright I have to go. Was nice to meet you. Maybe we see each other some time at getting Tea"

He winked.

„Yeah sounds pretty likely."

I laughed and waved him.

For a man that looked this grumpy and intimidating he was really nice.
