If Steven grew up and married Connie, she wouldn't just stay at home while he went out fighting evil. No, she'd want to help him. But how? She's human, and Steven wouldn't let her go out undefended.
So Steven would give Connie Rose's sword. She'd train day after day, her upper arm muscles already well-developed from tennis practice. She'd keep working until she was a highly skilled swordswoman. Then the two of them would adventure with the Crystal Gems. Steven and Connie would kick ass - Steven protecting Connie, Connie being 100% badass. And if the fight was really hard, the pair would literally just grab each other's hand and look at each other, and then Stevonnie would be there, skilled with both a sword and shield, and then they'd jump onto Lion and charge at the enemy.
Then for hours after, they'd stay fused, going on long walks down the beach, just enjoying the closeness of being fused. Then they'd go back home, and curl up together in front of the fireplace, writing fan fiction of The Unfamiliar Familiar and watching Dogcopter and Lonely Blade.
