"What do you love, Lapis?" Peridot asked, with her journal open with her finger pointed to a line of writing. Lapis knew what Peridot was doing. It was something that she called "therapy", something that Steven told Lapis about, something that might be able to make her feel better. It didn't really make Lapis feel better, but it was nice to see Peridot so worried about her. It was nice to be worried over.'

"I love...Camp Pining Hearts." Lapis smiled when Peridot scribbled it down on her notebook. "And the ocean. The sea. Flying." She said it all wistfully, like it was something that wasn't possible anymore, something that was far away and impossible.

"Why don't you?"

"Hm?" Lapis asked, a little curious. Peridot had many good ideas and it was fun to hear them.

"Go. To the ocean. And the sea. And fly? Why don't you go fly?" Peridot asked, closing her notebook and looking at Lapis curiously with wide eyes. Lapis shrugged. Sometimes Peridot had good questions. This was one of them.

Lapis shrugged, missing the cool feeling of her wings against her shoulder blades.

"Is there any reason why you don't want to?" Lapis thought for a moment. She did use her wings to try and keep Jasper under the sea, but Peridot didn't know that. She didn't have to know, because Peridot was always so worried about not mentioning anything about Jasper that it would make her feel worse all together. Flying was something good that was used under bad circumstances. It shouldn't be avoided. Lapis loved it.

"No. I want to."

"Then why don't you?" The question was simple. Why didn't she. It would make her feel better, the wind in her hair, and the effortless movement.

There was a silence, but then Lapis realized how much Peridot wanted an answer and how stupid it was to just stay quiet for a question that had just one answer.

"Would you like to come with me?" Lapis stood up, holding out her hand to Peridot. Her eyes grew wide and there was a nervous smile on her face. It was rare that Lapis shared her past with her. Peridot gingerly took her hand and stood up.

"Um... How?" Peridot looked up at the hole in the barn room, then at Lapis.

"Piggy back ride." She said, crouching now with her arms behind her. Peridot tentatively got on. Lapis was much taller, and Peridot yelped when she stood up. It felt like she was already five miles up.

"Ready?" Lapis asked, wings shooting out on both sides. Peridot nodded, and buried her head between her shoulder blades, and they shot up. It felt like part of Peridot was left back on the ground and half of her was in the night sky.

When Peridot finally mustered the courage to open her eyes, they were very, very high up. But it wasn't quite as scary as she thought. It didn't feel like she was way up, it felt like everything else was tiny.

When she looked to the sides Lapis's wings were flapping. When she reached out to touch the wings her hand went right through and all that was left was water on Peridot's fingertips. If Lapis felt it, she didn't react. It was strange.

"I can understand why you love this so much." Peridot muttered, staring at Lapis's back once again. She could feel Lapis nod.

"It was the opposite of Jasper. It was...cramped and dark. This is so wide and high up and free." Lapis stretched her arms and Peridot could feel her shoulder blades shift. Peridot didn't look up, but she felt like she knew where she was. She knew that she was getting high up.

"Where are we heading?" Peridot had to shout over the wind that was whistling past them. Lapis shouted it right back.

"The ocean!" Peridot never heard Lapis so happy before, or so excited. And especially about the ocean. But that was just what Peridot thought. Peridot never mentioned the ocean or water in general. Lapis was very touched, but she had recovered from her fear of the ocean a while ago, but it might be best if Peridot didn't think that she did. It felt nice to be worried over.

Peridot looked down, and the ivory moonlight was being reflected back up at her in ripples of ocean water. They got closer to the water, and Lapis lowered her leg to skim the surface of the water.

Peridot understood why Lapis loved it so much. Even enough to recover from her past.
